Unless Nets get a better offer from Portland to take their bad contracts I see no reason why Nets would say no to this. Lakers could also sub Clarkson for the 1st which would clear even more cap space for them and give Nets a youngish solid player.

I'm cool with either scenario.

What a waste of cap space just to get a pick.

Lakers would obviously have to get something. Would it be the Nets 2nd they got from Boston, $1 in cash considerations, or the draft rights to a 35 year old who was drafted 12 years ago?

That's a lot of cash coming back for just the Houston pick. but I like the train of thought, and I've been thinking along the same lines with Noah and the Knicks. If you combine those thoughts:

Nets trade: Lopez, Booker
Nets get: Deng, Noah, Rockets pick, Knicks pick, LAL 2nd rounder

Lakers trade: Rocket's 1st rounder, own 2nd rounder, Deng, Clarkson
Lakers get: Melo, Booker

Knicks trade: Melo, own 1st round
Knicks get: Lopez, Clarkson

Nets get draft picks, but lose their financial flexibility for the next three years. By the time their picks develop, they have both Deng and Noah coming off the books. They'll wind up with 5 picks in this draft, so they can go ahead and stash a few overseas to get he most bang for their buck.

Lakers bring in Melo and Booker to bolster their frontline, as they look to start being relevant again with Ball, Russell, Randle and Ingram in the mix.

Knicks bring in sure things in Clarkson and Lopez instead of one rookie, and are able to offload Noah and get something real for Melo in the process. Jackson already said he's not expecting anything from a rookie, so he likely wouldn't mind moving the pick. They'll have room to make a signing or two as well, so they can sign a SG or SF as well. I'd look for a guy like Redick, and bring in a defensive guy like Tucker or Thabo.
