If Clips re-sign Paul, the salaries in this deal don't work. Melo and Lee are about $41M, assuming JJ gets $18M, him and Crawford are $32M.

Also, though the Knicks are obviously trying to get out from underneath Melo, I don't see this as a great return.

Finally, Phil has said part of the reason for wanting to move Melo is that he does not feel that the Knicks will be real contenders for a couple of years. That means that:

A) Why would Reddick want to accept a sign and trade to New York.

B) Why would the Knicks want two guys on the wrong side of 30 without getting one younger asset back.

Clippers would be wise to try and get Melo as he would be a great fit and i think a relatively cheap option to get asset wise. Lee is also a very solid 3 and D role player. That would be a great return for the Clippers.

They could just balloon Reddicks first year salary to make it work. I don't see Knicks getting much in return for Melo and not a lot of teams being interested but this still isn't intriguing for Knicks since they don't get cap relief or young assets. They'd be better off keeping Melo and letting his deal expire than giving Reddick a sizeable contract which due to his age he'd probably want multiple years.
