NY-LAL

NY : D'Angelo Russell + L.Deng + 2nd pick + T.Mozgov
- take 2 huge contracts but gain their future back court to go along with Porzingis and Hernangomez

LAL : C.Anthony + 8th pick + future 1st round pick (protected)
- get a star player and still get a high pick and a future pick for their huge contracts

LA better keep the pick.

Cut Mozgov Russell and the knicks first and you probably have a deal.

Unless they're thinking that 2-10 are right about even, and really don't think Russell will develop, this is not a great move for the Lakers. If, however, they don't think Russell is any good, and aren't blown away by Ball or Jackson, this wouldn't be terrible. You get rid of multiple bad contracts and get an extra pick in the meantime. If they do actually like Russell, I think I'd try to move Randle instead. You can add Melo and play him at the 4, keep Russell, and draft a PG later on like Smith. You're left with

Smith
Russell
Ingram
Melo
Zubac?

That's not going to win you any championships, but it could make you relatively competitive on any given night, and that's what matters when you don't have your 1st rounder.

The Knicks would be able to take their pick of PG or SF, probably going with Ball.

Ball
Lee
Deng
Randle/ Hernangomez
Porzingis/ Mozgov

That's nothing special, but adding Ball and Randle at least gives them some sort of future to look forward to. I like Porzingis more as a 4, but he can play the 5, and you can have him and Randle play in a more fluid 4/ 5 relationship.

Forget the fact that this is an awful trade, you really just stated that the lakers "get a star player" in Carmelo Anthony LMFAO.
