Cavs won't give up Love for that mix.

Portland is looking to pair down salary, not add $3M more in a Love deal.

Portland would have to give up more for Love. The Cavs and Knicks both turn this down. The Knicks rather have Melo's expiring and Oquinn than the 20th and Crabbe on the books for 3 years. If the Cavs could add Melo to their big 3, that's something to think about, but moving Love for him doesn't make much sense unless they get back enough with Melo that they could swing a second trade (maybe the 8th pick and a future pick. I don't think adding that much to the trade would make sense for New York though.

I believe this make sense for NY.
Porzingis need the ball, so he can develop. That's not possible with Melo on the team.
Melo is way better than Crabbe, but i think Crabbe is a good fit in that team.
Ny can draft Smith or Ntilikina.
They shouldn't go for a free agent this year, so they can ad another young piece in next year's draft and hit the free agent market in 2018 or 2019

C:Hernangomez
PF: Porzingis
SF: Justin Jackson
SG: Crabbe
PG: Smith

Maybe the Cavs need a little bit more indeed, Portland could give an extra pick.

While you are right triangle, Portland is looking to shed salary, if Portland could land Love for that package, they would be fools to not do it, and deal with the cap issues in a separate deal.

That said, it does seem like Portland is getting too much. Though, if Lebron tells management that he wants to play with Melo, this doesn't seem crazy.

BMiller -- Very detailed story in NY Post today explaining why the Cavs would be no better with Anthony, and in fact would be much worse. But you are right in that James calls the shots, and if he wants CA, the Cavs will go get him.

Well super, as you said, any team that starts melo at the sf would be worse. he isn't worth a single starter in the league. At least that's what you say.

FYI, I read the article. It did not say it would make them much worse. In fact, it said it just wouldn't have been the end all be all solution. You need to learn to read without your butt sore emotions getting involved troll. Here is the quote. still confused how that is then translated to making the cavs much worse:

“Anthony would be a great addition to any team. The question is who has to be traded to get him, ” said Jeff Van Gundy, the ABC/ ESPN analyst and former Knicks coach. “If it was Love, I don’t think that makes sense for Cleveland. ”

Troll troll, look at the troll.
