I think Pacers would rather let George walk than take on 2 albatross contracts in Deng and Mozgov.

They have some leverage. Other teams are making offers and they can't even take on that much salary in a trade for just George. Letting him walk would be better than that deal. They would have to commit close to 70 million by next year on those 4 players.

But the Pacers won't take those contracts.

Pacers lost a lot leverage with George saying he didn't want to resign there and that he'd prefer to sign with Lakers but they didn't lose all leverage. They can still trade with any other team with the understanding that George will most likely be a 1 year rental (although team would be able to give a season long pitch why he should resign with them over Lakers) . I think having to take Mozgov and Deng's contracts take away most of the value in this trade (basically what it would take to dump that salary) and that Pacers could get better for George and then use the remaining cap space to absorb bad contracts and gain more assets.

The pacers having no leverage doesn't mean that they are going to take on the horrible contracts of deng and mozgov. just because George is saying he's going to the Lakers now doesn't mean he'll be saying the same thing in a year. There are two teams in LA. The Lakers at 5 plus years away.

That has got to be the most delusional trade idea in a long time. Pacers will have far better options than that. The Mozgov and Deng contracts are two of the 5 worst contracts in the NBA. No one is picking them up.
