Now that I'm looking at it more, the Knicks turn that down too.

Chandler may have a bad contract but its more so because he hasn't been able to stay healthy lately not necessarily due to his play. He is actually a very good versatile player when health that could be #2 or #3 option on a playoff team. Noah on the other hand is a backup center best case scenario and is up there in age so remaining years look even worse.
Chandler is probably a better player than Anderson when healthy but factoring in the injuries I'd probably rather have Anderson if I were Grizzlies but not even close enough to justify taking on Noah's contract and losing a solid backup center in Wright too.
For the Knicks I'd consider this a steal with them getting rid of Noah and Melo's contract, getting two solid role players in Ariza and Wright and Chandler who may have a big contract but is younger than Melo and better than Noah and if healthy could be a very solid contributor across the board.
I know Rockets are rumored to want Melo but I think they should at least try to hold out longer and force Knicks to buy him out. Losing Ariza's defense I think will hurt and I think Anderson as a #3 option and Gordon off the bench is plenty of offense and Melo isn't completely necessary.

jaw-you have got to stop posting Melo will be bought out. He won't. This getting worse than Porzingis trades to Celts and Sixers. I said it wouldn't happen and it didn't. Now, Melo won't get bought out. Traded-maybe. Bought out or waived-no benefit. Next year all bets are off. Possible. Not now. If you have a legitimate basketball reason why-I'd love to hear it.
