NYK/MIN

Knicks Receive: Andrew Wiggins and Gorgui Dieng

Wolves Receive: Carmelo Anthony

Knicks get a young player to potentially build around and a good young PF/C with range.

Wolves get a star to pair with Butler and Towns. This just might be enough to at least compete in the West.

MIN:

Teague/Jones
Butler/
Anthony/
Gibson/Bjelica
Towns/Aldrich/Patton

MIN would have to sign some veteran minimum guys to fill out the bench behind Butler and Anthony.

NYK:

Ntilikina
Hardaway Jr./Lee
Wiggins
Porzingis
Dieng/Hernangomez/Noah

I think this really benefits both teams and it works salary wise in the ESPN Trade Machine.

What star would the Wolves be getting?

Regardless of what everyone thinks of Anthony right now, he is a proven scorer. He can space the floor and would be a huge get for the Wolves. A team of Towns, Butler, and Anthony would fare a lot better over the next 2 years than the current roster construction. The Knicks have zero shot at getting back a talent better than Wiggins in a trade for Anthony. Not saying this trade would or even could happen but it works for both teams.

Wiggins is the better offensive player at this point. This trade is mind numbingly terrible for Minnesota and Melo has no where near that value.

Wiggins is already a 23 ppg scorer that doesn't play defense. why would the wolves want Carmelo Anthony. a career 24 ppg scorer who doesn't play defense.

Supercollider-10 time All-star with career 25 ppg avg. You wouldn't consider that a star? You are a moron. Keep posting and show everybody how little you know!

That's a terrible trade for the Wolves. However, I do like Melo's fit in Minnesota. Before the Butler trade, I was all about them moving pieces to get him. Wiggins is too much to give up though. If you were to replace Wiggins with Aldrich for the salaries and a pick or two for the substance, you're in the right ballpark. Dieng would fit very well with Porzingis, and he's young enough to grow with the kids on that squad. I don't think Hernangomez is a starting 5, but he's going to be a solid rotational big. Aldrich is literally filler, and you'll wind up with a late first rounder or two. I'm not sure they'll get much better.

The Wolves would be able to slot Melo right in at the 4, which is where he should be playing at this point in his career. He'd provide solid outside shooting which they could really use, and you'd have to worry about points coming from every position on the floor. Defense would be an issue, but Thibs and Butler seem to be strong enough personalities that they'd be able to pull everyone in, and Thibs would be able to scheme for their strengths.

Why would minny do this?

Wiggings is going to be an All star soon and Dieng is a great defender. And both are under 25.

Why would they trade them for an aging SF, that's to slow to defend fast SFs and to light to defend PF.

Carmelo Anthony USED to be a star, Wiggins actually put up more PPG than Anthony, Anthony probably wouldn't be an All-Star in the Western Conference anyways.

Maple-Melo doesn't have to be All-star. If you watched Olympics you would have seen that Melo playing with talent is formidable. Does contribute a lot to winning basketball teams. Kareem was 3rd option on Lakers behind Magic and Worthy. He had lost a lot in his game-but big contributor to title runs. Melo, while not what he was is still proven scorer and could be enough to catapult team.

Mitchsam- I agree that I think Melo would be a contributor on a winning team, giving up Andrew Wiggins is way to much for Melo. they got Jimmy Butler (an all-star currently in his prime) for Zach Lavine ( a great guy but still needs to recover from a serious injury) and Kris Dunn ( a point gaurd that isn't good), I'm not saying Melo isn't good by any means, but as of right now the Wolves have a younger, more athletic, more team friendly version of him in Andrew Wiggins.
