I rolled my eyes as soon as I saw Kyrie going to Detroit, but I actually like this trade for everyone. This trade probably puts the Pistons firmly in the playoffs, let's Kyrie be the man on a solid team, and gives them the star they've been missing for a while.

The Cavs get a solid replacement for Kyrie and two solid young wings both on rookie scales. It's a solid return for Irving.

The Suns get a young allstar center to complement their solid young wings. After a trade like this they would be a young pg away from really having their complete young core built.

I agree, this isn't a bad trade for anyone. The key at that point would be Detroit finding someone to take Jackson. They could move him for a similarly overpriced player at a different position that would fit them a little bit better. I think Kyrie would love playing next to Bradley as he's not only praised him in the past, but his 3 and D style would mean Kyrie would never have to take on the opposition's best guard.

The Suns have money, so they can spend the terrible salary that Drummond has without it being an issue. Drummond is really overpaid for what he is, but he IS an absolute beast on the boards.

This is a really, really good return for the Cavs. They're not stuck so much as they have Kyrie under contract, but I think the general thought is that they're going to move him, and after his comments about not wanting to extend, the return won't be as good as if they came up with the idea of trading him on their own. Just look at Indy.

I mean I think Suns could get Irving themselves for not a lot more (and create a much more attractive offer to Cleveland who gets most of their return from them already) than this so I think they should go that route over this one especially with their need for a point guard (assuming they deal Bledsoe) is bigger than their need for a center (Chandler, Williams, Bender, Len if they resign are all not great but could give you minutes until next offseason when the Phoenix pick could potentially land Bamba or Ayton or sign someone) .

Looking at the merits of this trade tho I don't think its bad. Cleveland gets a solid replacement for Irving and some young talent. Phoenix gets a young big man in Drummond that I think is a great return on what they are giving up and a new location may help him to unlock the rest of his potential. For Detroit it makes sense for them since they don't seem to think Drummond is their franchise cornerstone any longer and bringing in Irving helps fill that void. Pistons would have a lot of other issues they need to work out and have a terrible cap situation but Irving would give them a sense of direction which I think they are lacking at the moment. (Pistons probably should send out a little more salary with Irving and Chandler coming back)
