Cleveland Cavaliers - New Orleans Pelicans

Cleveland trades: Iman Shumpert, Channing Frye, Cedi Osman and BKN '18 first round pick.

New Orleans trades: DeMarcus Cousins.

The only way cavs can beat the warriors is by exploiting their weakness (their center position) . Nobody on the warriors will be able to stop Cousins down low.

Another interesting option is Carmelo. In small ball lineups Melo is deadly. However, I feel like Cousins could have a bigger impact against the Dubs.

This is a tough one as it's yes and no at the same time for me.

I agree that Cousins could be a difference maker, but with him also being an FA, LBJ, IT and him could all leave, and that Brooklyn pick is a huge building block should that happen. I'm inclined to think that if they move that pick, it will be for someone under contract past this year.

Triangle O: That's the worst case scenerio. If LBJ commits long term, I could see uthe cavs being able to retain both Boogie and Isaiah as well.

I'm also kind of at a loss of what to think about a trade like this. Honestly Jordan, Drummond, and Cousins I would all consider trading the Nets 1st for but I agree with Cousins it would be difficult to give up the pick for another 1 year player since Cousins, Bron, and Thomas potentially could leave. The thing is though even if 2 of the 3 leave and the Cavs only retain one of them, they can still remain relevant with that one player and Love if they want to still compete and not totally rebuild. If all three do leave though that's 60 mil off the books so a lot of options o consider.

I think if it's Cousins, you do it. The guy gives you a player that GS can't handle and who is actually a good defender athletic enough to keep on the floor. Drummond and Jordan in my opinion, don't really do much that Tristan can't do (they do do somethings better) . If you could get one of those two without the Brooklyn pick, it's probably worth it, but Cousins is the only one good enough to almost guarantee Lebron stays.
