I'm not a fan of it for either team. Capela is a solid young starting center, but I don't see him ever being someone a team can build around. Memphis is probably better off looking for a package of picks and young players. For Houston, they make a thin bench even thinner and would end up fairly weak on the boards, while getting older. I don't think Gasol really gets them much closer in the short term to competing with the Warriors.

Gasol is great, but I agree, I don't think he's the right fit for the Rockets, while Capela seems to fit them perfectly. You've already got both Paul and Harden looking for the ball, even though both have proven they are/ can be apt distributors. I feel like Capela can fit that athletic big like Griffin or Jordan that Paul has grown used to, while Gasol is more of a technician. Anderson is extremely overpaid, but he should be able to do his thing very well on this squad. His defense should be covered up by Ariza and Capela while his (and Ariza's) three point shot could be deadly with players keyed on Paul and Harden while having to protect against the lob to Capela.

i don't dislike this for Houston, they should go all in and Gasol has some good years left.
but i can't see Memphis doing this. They need draft picks and young players, not R anderson.

I went through several years of Ryan Anderson here in NOLA. Great 3 point shooter, great character guy but weak on D and injury issues are huge. Pretty heavy contract also. Capela is a talent but i think Memphis passes.
