Suns-Cavs

Suns trade Monroe, Daniels, 2nd rounder for Thompson, Smith and Nets pick (plus trade exception).

Cavs get 9 million in cap space which they can possibly use to acquire another player, a frontcourt and SG upgrade to make another run at the title while they still have LBJ.

Suns get 30 million in bad contracts for three years in exchange for a top 10, possible top 3 pick.

Wow, that’s horrible. You can’t get the nets pick for just a salary dump.

I assume you forgot Booker and Jackson in the trade?

No way Cleve makes this deal and PHX wouldn't either. Thompson is a R. Paul client (bad blood there), Smith is not the kind of veteran a team like PHX needs, or wants. Mostly, though, the draft pick won't move in a deal like this.

Even with bad fits and bad blood, Phoenix makes that trade all day. They could easily flip Thompson, and might be able to flip Smith (at least for a bad contract with a better attitude) .

No way Cavs give up the Nets pick for that. Even if that pick ends up conveying around 7-10th, it's still too much to give up for that package.

Also, while I'm not the biggest fan of either Thompson or Smith, they are not "salary dump" players. They're both solid contributors on contracts that are a little more than what they should be, but they're not the Jo Noah's of the L either.

The suns have no interest in acquiring tristan thompson. Reasons are obvious.
