" Now, he isn't a good enough prospect to be a part of a package to get a mediocre player that doesn't/ team doesn't want to be on a rebuilding? Any way Cavs pass. Shumpert's defense and the small assets the Cavs lose aren't worth giving up for Mirotic. He's a mediocre shooter, plays little d, and after the Portis issue it came out that most of his teammates hate him. Unless a player is a good defender or great offensive player the Cavs don't really need him at the expense of any of their younger players or picks.

rkenne16, Zizic may be, and I believe will be something, someday in the NBA. If he was ready he would have received some of Thompsons minutes instead of stints in the G League. I would guess that means he is not rebounding, or defending at an NBA level. Cavs, from the bouncing back and forth from the bush league, to the pro's are pushing his readiness as fast as they can. Good players don't typically do that. It's a gamble on his talent is how I would read the actions of the Cavs.

Jorgawood, I think his lack of playing time and g league stints are more a product of the Cavs depth, coaching preferences and play style. The Cavs want bigs that run the floor and shoot the 3. Plus, they haven't been playing many minutes with 2 bigs on the floor and Lue's been reluctant to play his younger players in the past.

rkenne_16, I admire your loyalty, Thompson can run the floor, but hasn't attempted a 3 in 7 seasons with Cavs.

Sorry for the ambiguous wording. I meant they need to excel in atleast one of those places. Zizic looks like a decent athlete, but he's not an athlete on Thompson's level and apparently he has a decent midrange game that I haven't really seen so far in his limited NBA minutes. I'm not saying the guy has a ton of value, but he has some.

He certainly does have some promise. Big guys that shoot are highly valued.
