Lakers Offseason

LAL- Kawhi Leonard, Brandon Paul
SAS- Brandon Ingram, Julius Randle (S&T), Luol Deng

If the Spurs feel they're going to lose Kawhi, they might look to trade him. The Lakers have the pieces to acquire Kawhi and still sign two MAX players (if they can attach Deng to the deal). I think this trade works for both teams.

Sign LeBron James MAX
Sign DeAndre Jordan MAX

C- DeAndre Jordan
F- Kyle Kuzma
F- Kawhi Leonard
G- LeBron James
G- Lonzo Ball

You can't sign and trade along side another player, the Spurs have some cap space so they could just try to sign Randle if they wanted, they take on probably over 10 million dollars in a trade where they are trading by far the best player, and even if it were some how just Randle and Ingram for Kawhi, that would be a mediocre at best return.

I actually cheer for the LAL simply due to geography, Kawhi is also an L. A. Native, so it checks a couple boxes on Kawhi's list I'm sure, but Popovich runs the team, and there is no way this would get him. A stars ransom is what it would take.

A player that is freshly signed will take the best deal possible, so at best, he is on a neutral deal, and may be negative to many teams who would not offer as much as he got. Combining him with Luol Deng's bad deal is certainly a negative package.

Deng + Kuzma is not worth their combined salaries either.

Ingram doesn't get you Kawhi in return.
