I like this for WSH, I think for salary matching purposes they need to include Jason Smith.

Whiteside makes $25 mil next year, and $27 mil the year after that.

I'm not sure he has positive trade value, or that it would take both Oubre and a pick to move Gortat. Maybe Mahinmi?

Comme on Whiteside is a great defender. The only reason the Heat would trade him, is because they need to give Adebayo playing time.
It's a good trade for bothe teams.
It makes Washinton better, so they can aim for the title and the Heat get assets for a rebuilt.

Nope gasupo that is just wrong. He was a great defender. And he got a big contract. And now he has little to no value. His team is far better offensively when he’s off the court. And the teams metrics are essentially the same on defense when he is on versus off. For a guy sucking up a quarter of the teams cap, this is horrible.

For a guy sucking up a minimum contract this is pretty bad.

Stop analyzing his performance based on 2016. He had to earn a contract. He did. And like Wally szerbiak. He is a complete waste of space after getting paid. Awesome.

Whiteside is a lot like Love. People got way too high on him, now they’re way too low on him.

Whiteside was never a top 3 center. He was never an all nba defender. But he is an elite rebounder, solid (but raw) offensive player, and a playmaker on defense (even if his great plays are followed by mistakes) . He is a third option on an elite team, nothing more nothing less.

On defense, Whiteside can't switch or come out to defend the new batch of three-point shooting centers, he is really poor on offense. He is not the type of center that the NBA is moving towards, and he's getting paid $25 and $27 mil. Oh, and he was drafted low because of personality risks, and we continue to see those even today.

I think he's getting over-valued in this trade.
