mil is pulling a robbery, getting off turner’s contract is maybe worth packaging a 1st, but it comes down to mccollum being significantly better than middleton that makes this unfair.

Middleton averaged 20 5 and 4, while playing significantly better defense and being 6'8. He can give them a lot of what McCollum gives them on offense and way more on defense. Middletons game works better with Lilliard than Mcollum.
They get out of a terrible contract.
They get Snell, who's another versatile 3 and D guy
The get Delly, who's overpayed, but is a solid backup combo guard
They get Wilson, who is a decent young prospect.
Plus they save money.

Actually he is much better. Shocker. Middleton in a contract year goes off. Mccollum has consistently been a beast on offense and team defense impact is actually rather similar comparing on off metrics. The big thing is McCollum is locked up for a few years. Middleton has a player option and then ufa. And that all holds a lot of weight. Mccollum is fat and away more valuable.

Middleton has improved every year steadily so this isn't a huge year in a contract year he averaged 18 4 4 last year and16 2 2 the year before that I would even argue Middleton is better.

Portland gets out of a horrible contract, and takes on two horrible contracts. That cancels itself out.

McCollum is better than Middleton. I’d argue much better, but even call them equals on the court (they’re not) . McCollum’s contract is muuuch better than Middleton. Those two extra years are enormous for a small market team.

And a first has considerably more value than Wilson.

Overall, bad for Portland. If they want to dump 8 million, they can unload Leonard or Harkless for less than this.
