I see why OKC and Chicago does this, but LA is not giving up two picks when they can wait for the inevitable Melo buyout. No one is dealing for Melo.

Betting odds on OKC to win the title improved after news that Thunder will be dumping Anthony.

It’s kinda obvious they’re giving up a pick to get rid of Dengs contract, isn’t it!? Melo is wayyy overpaid but it is an expiring contract for the lakers. So it’s off the books next summer.

The Lakers would never give up a pick to take extra salary, that's absolutely stupid. Straight up if it works for both which with a 90 mil incentive for a buyout its unlikely.

Lakers do this with ease to clear Deng and get melo for james.

Except the Lakers just sign the bought out Melo and Stretch Deng, leaving them with the same max contract flexibility next year, and a 1st that they can fill a spot with cheaply, or use in a better deal.
