Lakers - Thunder:

OKC receive: Deng, '19 & '23 2nds
LAL receive: Melo

Lakers get rid of Deng, take on more salary for this year and give LBJ a banana boat friend.
OKC shave a large amount of salary and tax with this trade, also add a couple of seconds.

Thoughts?

If Melo is willing to take a decent amount less in a buyout this doesn't help the Thunder at all.

Why would okc want the deng contract for next year they will be way over the line before they have made a signings and seconds don't make this worth, especially cause deng would have 0 production.

No team will trade for Deng or melo. Okc will buy him out.

Deng cost a 1st for expiring contract.

OKC will save 102 mil stretching melo so I think that's what they do that's what they do because they don't want no salary back but 6 to 8 that'sto difficult to do so the easiest way is to stretchy.

Deng costs nearly 40 million in luxury taxes for thunder I think. Anthony waive or buyout and stretch is the only okc option from what I can tell.

Why stretch him if I’m OKC? Just buy him out, even if it’s at his whole salary. Yes, tax implications this year, but it looks like they’re willing to pay that this year anyway. Why carry a $9M cap hit each of the next three years.

Luxury tax seasonally is cheaper at 7-9 over 3 years than 27 all at once this season.
