Thunder get Lee
Knicks get Abrines (exp), Singler (exp), 1 or 2 2nd round pick

Thunder get a solid backup SG who would make their bench better, get a veteran to help mentor all the young wings the Thunder have. They also open a roster spot for either the trade deadline and waivers mid season or add a big man for depth now.

Knicks do this to free up cap space for next season. Lee is making close to 13 mil next season. Abrines is expiring and Singler has a team option which they would decline so he is also expiring. Knicks clear nearly 13 mil off the books for FA next season while picking up a young 3 point shooter that's still improving on defense for next season and a pick or 2 as well.

Thunder lineup

Westbrook/ Schroder/ Felton
Roberson/ Lee/ Ferguson/ Diallo
George/ TLC/ Nader
Grant/ Patterson
Adams/ Noel

Schroder, Lee, TLC, Patterson, and Noel have the potential to be a solid bench. Definitely the best Bench Thunder has had in a couple of years.

Knicks couldn't say yes fast enough.

I think Lee is the most efficient player on the Knicks and his 25 mil over next two years is acceptable. So this is good for the thunder and get them closer.

Hurts OKC’s cap with their situation. I think it should only be 1 2nd going to New York and New York should send back cash.

OKC have no cap. This league you got to pay to play if you want to Win.

As a Thunder fan, I love it.
But the reason we didn't get Lee last year at the trade deadline is because NY wanted a 1st round pick (or the equivalen) for him.
I have to imagine that's where they'll be starting any negotiations out at, even if that means waiting till the trade deadline again to see whose really looking for that last piece.

Okc23 Last year they weren't trying to clear as much cap as possible for FA. They are going to want to be able to offer 2 max contracts to try to get 1 or 2 of Butler, Kyrie, Leonard, KD. And with Porzingis injury he prob won't return to 100% till close to the end of the season or next season, so this is also a good year for them to give their young players plenty of playing time to help develop them and tank for a high pick. So they might be willing to take 1 or 2 seconds and get his contract off the books.

Again, as an OKC fan, I absolutely love it.
It's the best trade possibility I've heard for the Thunder that has realistic possibilities of occurring.
Lee hits exactly what the Thunder need for the next 2 years at that position. Plus Roberson may not be 100% at the beginnig of the season.
The question is, what more is NY asking for in the deal as to why they haven't already said yes?
Are they needing a TLC or a Diallo or a Ferguson to be thrown in as a sweetener as well?

One things for certain, your deal is exactly something Presti would have already put out on the table. Getting Singler off the books for the price of Abrines. No brainer.
Here's to hoping.

Apparently whatever sweeteners NY was asking for in addition to Abrines and Singler were just too much.
Oh well, let's see if Abrines has been working on his game, other than getting married this summer.
Haven't heard much from him other than that.
Otherwise this Thunder 1st and 2nd team will look a lot like the lost cause when Roberson was down last year prior to getting Brewer.
