OKC says "NOOOOOOOO"

Thad Young is a 30 year old, shooting 32% from deep in the last year of his 13 mil contract. He's averaging 12 points on 32 minutes of play.
He's going to be sharing minutes with Grant, which means that he will likely be playing closer to 25 mins, so at best averaging 9-10 points per-game, still shooting below league average in 3's.
Patterson averages 7 points on 25 mins of play, 37% from deep and still has 2 years to go on his 5.5 mil contract.

Not to mention that Abrines is a MUCH better backup at Shooting Guard than Ferguson is right now and he also still has 2 more years left on his 5.5 mil contract.

And finally, OKC doesn't have a 1st rounder to give anyone until 2024. That far out, it doesn't carry very much weight, not to mention, we don't need to give it out for someone who is at best slightly better than one of the players your giving away.

This deal wouldn't even be beneficial if it was just Singler and Patterson and a highly protected 2nd round pick in 2020.

Indiana and Minn may benefit and like this deal, but leave OKC out of it.

The sticking point is Abrines. A player no one out of okc has heard of and no one in okc should care about.

Interesting.

Yeah, the first is the reason this can’t happen. Young is a decent player and would probably be an upgrade at pf for OKC, but he’s not worth a first and OKC doesn’t have one to give.
