Philly gets Dieng and Butler

Minnesota gets Chandler(expiring), Bayless (expiring), Mascla(expiring), Korkmaz, Bolden, Philly's 19 1st and 2 2nds

Minnesota shaves 6 Million off their books from the beginning. They get Chandler and Muscala, who can both play now, but they have no long term commitment to. They can buyout Bayless saving them more money. Plus. Plus, they get 1st and some smaller young assets. They don't get the middle of the road starting player that they want, but the rest of the package is vastly superior to what else has been floated for Butler.

Philly gets a 3rd star without giving up any of their high end assets. Plus, Dieng can be a solid role player for them.

If butler goes to the Sixers, Saric or Covington are likely included, otherwise I don't think the wolves would do a deal for garbage. Even the pick is late.

76ers can't trade their own No. 1 this season, because it conveys to Boston if the Sacramento pick turns out to be No. 1 overall. As for the rest, Thibs would want no part of any of it.

Where are all these better deals out there. The Heat seemed to have pulled out and their reported offer wasn’t any better than the one above. It was headlined by Richardson and a late first, they weren’t taking Dieng and apparently they would have had to take Waiters. Houston wouldn’t even put PJ Tucker into talks. Who would Philly be competing with. A first, 2nd and expirings atleast are something.

I think the heat offered and are still offering a better package than this. I don't know what the rockets package is. I think the Heats' would be a little better though.

Collider in the freak occurrence that sac is the #1 overall you are correct. However if that pick is higher than 1, it goes to Boston and Philly has their own pick to trade or draft with in 2019. Correct me if I'm wrong, I've had a hard time with this one in the past!

The reported Heat offer was better than this one.

There may not be a lot of big offers on the table, but it only takes one team with motivation to put a good package together. Based on the way Philly looked against Boston on Tuesday, 10-15 games from now, if they look like they’re falling behind the C’s and Raps, there may be a crunch to offer up something that makes Minny jump.

Btec, I think that it's actually that Boston gets to take the better of the two picks. If I'm not mistaken.

BTEC -- Philly gets the Kings pick if it turns out to be No. 1 overall. In that case, Boston gets the Sixers' own No. 1, which figures to be in the 20s. Obviously, no one knows which it will be until the draft lottery is held in mid-May. So Philly cannot trade its own pick until it knows that it won't convey to Boston. Thus, any trade involving Philly's own No. 1 in the coming draft is an exercise in futility, since Boston might get it. I think I read somewhere that based on last year's standings the Kings pick has something like a 12 percent chance of being No. 1 overall.

I thought If Kings get number one they keep there pick and next year is unprotected.

Couldn’t you just give the opposite set of protections for the picking going out in another deal? Or just drop the protection? It seems like there would be easy ways to work around given that they have 3 picks in 2 years.

II, I thought that too. No matter what Sac gets no pick in 2019 unless they trade for one. A 1st anyway.

Collider, thanks for clearing that up. Your right, can't trade that 1st until the end of the season draft lottery.

It's simple. As part of the Fultz trade, PHI and BOS agreed to a pick swap. BOS gets either the PHI pick OR the SAC pick that PHI owned - whichever is better. Of course everyone expects the SAC pick to be better, but you never know. The trade also included a protection - if either turns out to be the #1 pick, it stays with PHI and BOS gets the other one. So PHI will have a pick either way. Either they get #1 and BOS gets a pick in the 20's, or BOS gets the SAC pick (probably in the 2-5 range) and PHI keeps its own pick.
