You do realize that the Mid-Level exceptuon to the salary cap is over $5 mil? Meaning that vets like Rondo, Chandler, and Carroll will be looking for at least that amount from playoff teams like Philly, Portland, Houston, etc.

So Horford will opt out of $30 million next year to sign 2 year $31 million one year guarantee. So he will leave Boston to play in LA for half the pay. Solid plan.

Actually west was worse because the money he gave up didn't get back within the next year. If horford did that he make a million extra. But what west did it took him a few years to make up.

Not really. Instead of 1 year $30 million it becomes 2 year $31million. He plays year 2 for $1 million. If he doesn't think he could get a contract from any other team in 2020 then its good move. But the MLE will probably be over $6 million to go to contender. He could get even more if he went to a worse team.
