BOS have 115million on their books next season if Kyrie and Horford opts in. With Kyrie expected to opt out it will be around 94million. If they can unload Hayward's 32mil they will have enough cap room to sign Kevin Durant then resign Kyrie and go over the cap to pair the two. If Kyrie and KD wants to play together, BOS should consider it before they decided to play somewhere else (NY). I don't know if this is possible but what if

BOS sends Hayward along with multiple picks to a team that is willing to take that salary and get nothing back?

BOS signs Kevin Durant to max then resign Kyrie. Q.O for Terry Rozier

The line up would be

Pg Irving/Rozier
Sg Tatum/Smart
Sf Durant/Brown
Pf Horford/Theis
Ce Baynes/FA

I know it will be hard but is something like this a possibility?

You cannot trade Hayward for nothing. Salaries have to match or at least come close.

I'm not sure you can trade for nothing, but there were some strange trades in the past.

didn't the nets trade Korver for a Copie machine (cash) .
And the pacers and the pacers traded Don Buse to Portland for 2 weeks advice

Maybe they can trade for cash or a second round pick.

You can trade Hayward for a protected 2nd as long as the other team has the cap space to take on that contract, but
To sign Durant, they would need to trade Hayward and renounce Kyrie’s cap hold. Then they wouldn’t be able
to resign him.

You can trade for the rights to a foreign player that will never come over to the NBA. Every team owns a couple of these rights.

Boston has $125 mil in salary next year if everyone opts in according to Basketball Reference.

Not 100% positive there is a cap hold on a player who exercises an opt out clause. I need to do some more CBA reading.

Plus, there is a $9 mil cap hold created by offering Rozier a QO and the cap holds for the first round draft picks that Boston will own as well.

Kyrie's cap hold if he opts out would be pretty much what his option amount is (I'm fairly sure), so they wouldn't have any cap space to sign Durant unless they gave up Irving's hold, in which case they couldn't resign him.

Smart/ Horford, Smart/ Hayward to a team with cap space for picks or something is possible, but not really. The ever impossible Hayward/ Horford would be impressive, with no salary return.

Think your cap hold is 6.5 % raise of your salary.
