ATL/SAS

ATL get TOR 1st, Metu

SAS get Prince

Dude. Stop. ATL is not getting a 1st rounder for Prince unless ATL is willing to take a bad contract along with the 1st round pick.

So if we were talking about Mills and the TOR 1st rounder, then we MIGHT have something to talk about ( However, Spurs have never been about salary dumps) .

Maybe Snell + Ilnoysia + Milwaukee 1st for Prince?

Generally I agree with you Fredman, but you’re wrong on this one. How is pick 29 more valuable than a guy who puts up 14, 4 and 3 a night while shooting 39% from three and is on a $3M contract next year? Spurs won’t get that production out of that pick, and Pop doesn’t play rookies much anyway.

Prince would be a quality addition to a team in need of athletes, and a need to get younger.

15 pts/ 7 rebounds per game and shooting 35.3% on an expiring deal gets you 1 future early 2nd round pick + 3 future very late second round picks at the trade deadline. Last time I checked that is not as good as pick #29 in the upcoming draft. But its okay if you don't agree.

Who is 15pts,7 rebs, 35% shooting? None of those numbers match-up for Prince.

@Fredman, I believe Milwaukee would pass. I don't believe prince is worth Snell, Ilyasova PLUS a 1st. Rd Pick. the Bucks could do a lot better with a different trade.

I'd do the deal if I thought Middleton was leaving, and Mirotic was staying. Ilyasova, Snell, #30 is a small price for the #'s Triangle posted. Prince is 24, completing his 3rd season on a team that reshaped its entire offense, and defense from last season to this one, and his #'s reflect 0 variance in his output? A steal a game, and 38% from 3 is a 3&D small forward in this league. I'd offer 12-15, 3-4 years to him when he expires.

Sorry, I am assuming Prince's numbers actually drops by going to the Spurs simply because of the difference in Pace (Hawks led the league while Spurs was one of the slowest playimg teams) as well as the diminished touches Prince will get in San Antonio. I believe that you are talking more about 10 PPG and 2 RPG with the Spurs.

Jorga, the stats I quoted were what Mirotic was averaging when he was traded for matching salary and 4 (really only 1 "good") 2nd rounders. Using that as a SIMILAR market for Prince, ATL is not getting a 1st rounder back without taking back a a "bad" deal. It's just what previous deals (AKA the market) show.

I wouldn't compare Mirotic, and prince situation at all. The pelicans went rebuild, and probably met a request from Mirotic. You're trying to trash the prince value to make a case. Mirotic deal is just semantics, include this, leave out that, and you have prince value based off of a different situation entirely is subjective in the least. Prince also has half a season on Mirotic, and is younger, but that wouldn't matter either I'm sure.

A player averaging 15/ 7 and shooting 35% from 3 versus a player averaging 14/ 3 shooting 39% from 3 is a bad comparision? Okay, I don't know about "bad" but it is a "close" comparision. I tend to believe when you remove the players names, personal opinions and biases are also removed as well. AKA the 14/ 3/ 39% player's value is "close" to the 15/ 7/ 35% players value. Its not perfect but it is more based in fact that anyone's (including my own) personal opinion.

So let me put it another way, ATL is going to need a perfect storm of situations (Injuries to playoff team, Prince only player on the trade market, marked improvemwnt in the off season, etc) to drive up his current value to a 1st round pick.

Remember that a 12/ 8/ 55% FG player wouldn't get the time of day from most of you as well.

Pick a player who is 24, has a season to go at 3M before RFA and that is the closest comp you can come up with for Prince is Mirotic? I'd fjre you if you if you were my agent negotiating my next contract.

That has been traded this season to show what their trade value is? After doing more research perhaps Rodney Hood (12.2/ 2.5/ 36.% from 3) would be a better fit for you. What did Portland give up to get him from Cleveland? Expiring salary and 2 future 2nd rounds (Portland's 2021 and 2023 picks) which are nowhere near the value of 2019 pick #29/ #30. Does that work for you?

5 year unrestricted free agent is a comparison to a 3 year, going into final year before RFA? Since when? Prince is the more accurate 3 shooter, and better defender in less time in the oven. A mid to early 20's 1st shouldn't be that hard to get. Maybe they do take back a matching, or close, expiring salary. Not a 10M plus though.

Show me an actual trade of a pick in the mid 20s + expiring salary for a young player with Prince's comps. Not seeing one over the last 2 years.

While I have another SIMILAR comps of Justin Holiday, (2 second rounders) . So that is 3 trades within the last year that are SIMILAR to Prince, with all 3 essential generating 2 2nd rounds picks for ATL.

Prince > Justin Holiday.

Kings
Prince

Hawks
'20 SAC 1st

Barnes expires when Prince enters RFA, seamless transition @ SF for SAC, plus a back-up after trading Anderson.

Pacers
Prince

Hawks
Indy 1st

Indy is moving on from Evans, and Mcdermott hasn't been a good addition.

Blazers
Prince

Hawks
POR 1st
Labissierre

Blazers are desperate for someone to be a better player @ SF. Aminu might be gone Harkless, Prince is a decent fill for the SF/ PF the blazers need. Hood is hard to watch for me. Cannot make a wide open spot up 3. Has to be off the dribble. Prince has no problems with catch and shoot. Trent is still green.

I like the trade as proposed by USA. Prince is a young athletic wing who is still on a rookie deal. Spurs have two first round picks this summer and do not have many roster spots available. I think they would definitely want Prince for the Toronto pick (28 or 29) and Metu. Metu was a 2nd round pick last year who showed little this year even though he was on the roster all year. Prince is a proven player with upside. Spurs could do much worse.
