Could NO convince A Davis to stay if they trade the 1st pick for a star?

Nope. Pretty sure that bridge has been burnt and New Orleans doesn't really have the cap space to take on the salary of a "star" with Davis and Holiday already on the roster. If Randle opts in, the Peilcans have around $16 mil in cap space.

I don't think either alienated each other. I think Davis was being honest about going somewhere where he can win. New Orleans wasn't going to win. But, they protected themselves and their asset (Davis) making sure he was healthy enough to get the most in return for him, by limiting his games and minutes. Very smart, IMO.
