Cavs 2022 first round pick
Jr Smith
Bates- Diop

Cavs receive
Knicks 2019 3rd pick
Thomas
Ntilikina
Dotson
Wiggins
Dieng

Wolves do this because the value of giving up their first and getting good young talent with better contracts (Clarkson, Thompson, Smith Jr) and giving up contracts for Wiggins and Dieng is to hard to pass up.

Knicks do this because they get two picks in return for their 3rd pick and most importantly clearing all players they possibly can (besides knox and robinson) and giving them JRs partly guaranteed contract and adding a Bates-Diop. This gives the Knicks the full flexibility they were looking for in cap room for the offseason.

Cavs do this, well they actually take a huge risk for their desire to have RJ Barrett and they keep their 5th pick so they absurb a huge amount of salary and bad contracts in order to have a chance to build a young better contending team while having young"stars" potential with Sexton Barrett and the 5th pick. They get Wiggins and Dieng who have bad contracts and long contracts but still can play ball offensively. and they still have Love so this could be a complete bust or a big reward and Cavs need to take a chance like this to compete.

Legit this is horrible for the Knicks. Seriously, why would they do it?

How is this horrible for the knicks? I do understand giving up the 3rd would be a hard choice if they wanted one player but they are already looking to trade back. They clear all cap space besides for Knox and Robinson, the two young guys they wanted to keep. They have two first round picks and gain another of the Cavs for the future. They get Bates Diop on a three year deal that is less than a mil a year. If the Knicks are so sure KD is coming then they should do all they can to clear as much cap as possible to build the team around him and whoever else he brings with him.
