Just curious from the Lakers and OKC fans. If Kawhi had said to the Lakers to trade Anthony Davis for Paul George and he would sign with the Lakers. Do the Lakers do the deal? Does OKC accept the straight up offer?

No way OKC would do it straight up considering AD's desire to play in a big market and only 1 year remaining on his deal.

Davis would had vetoed this trade and stayed with the Lakers.

I believe Lakers would bc that would be a great Big 3 that would make them championship contenders for years. Idk abt Okc tho since I doubt AD would resign back.

I think both sides would do it.

If you're the Lakers, that's a no brainer. Davis vs Kawhi and George really isn't even close. Maybe you're looked at as having little loyalty, but no one cares about the team's lack of loyalty to players.

OKC probably does too. They could flip AD for an enormous haul. Or make it a three way deal where they pull in a final landing point for AD and get OKC those assets.

So the Rich Paul agent angle would come into play.

The biggest problem with this is the kind of team the Lakers would’ve become if Okc did this.
AD would do us no good. LA would’ve been so dominant for several more years(Golden State 2.0). We wouldn’t be competitive for a championship even if AD signed & stayed with Okc, but that never would’ve happened.
And no other team would give us much for him unless they had assurances he would stay with them after the following year.

Haven't we proved that teams will give up massive trade packages for players without assurance they'll stay?

Bmiller66, tell me which of those recent dealings the player did end up staying.
PG is the only one that sort of did and because of that, Okc was able to recoup some assets for him. Ultimately he left to go play for the city he said he wanted to play for initially.

Kawhi played one season and bolted to the city he said he wanted to go play for.

That being said, which team would be willing to trade for him heavily, not knowing where he will probably bolt off too after the season is over, if they don’t get some kind of assurance and believe he may resign with them?
