Knicks - Lakers Trade

Knicks get: R. Westbrook, K. Nunn, A. Reaves
Lakers get: J. Randle, E. Fournier, D. Rose

Knicks hit reset on their cap space at the end of 22-23 season. Lakers get an opportunity to build some semblance of a supporting cast around LeBron & AD. It puts a lot of long-term financial burden on the Lakers but I don't think they can get a better package talent-wise for Westbrook and they are going nowhere in the next 5 years if they don't at least try to put some type of pieces around LeBron & AD. As it stands they have very little financial flexibility to do so. This would give them a shooter to flank LeBron and a center to slide AD over to PF and hopefully lighten his physical wear and tear. It also gives them a veteran PG to round out their starting 5. This might also be the only deal where they wouldn't have to give up future draft picks to get rid of Westbrook.

As a Knick fan it's not a great return for Randle but I think it would open up a lot of playing time for our young guys, which would allow for a 1 year evaluation period and the flexibility to sign solid veterans that compliment them before you have to sign multiple guys on their rookie deals to extensions. It would likely also lead to a higher draft pick in a solid 2023 draft class.

Looks like the Knicks are wanting to use their cap space for Brunson lol.

With Noel already gone, can the Knicks afford to trade Randle with only Toppin and Gibson under contract for next year?

CLE & CHA

CLE gets Kemba Walker & Nicholas Batum
CHA gets Tristan Thompson, Isaiah Thomas, Channing Frye

Charlotte drops Frye and Thomas's salaries at the end of the season. That leaves them with only Tristan Thompson's $16M per year compared to currently owing Walker and Batum a combined $34M per year. You could argue that Cleveland needs to throw in a first round pick, but I think saving CHA the $22M owed annually to Batum offsets that.

CLE reshapes a roster to better match up with GS and still has assets to potentially make a run at D. Jordan.

Walker
Batum
James
Crowder
Love

They end up with one guy on the entire roster (that is currently out for 2 months) that can play center.

2.) 06 Feb 2018 23:55:04
Also, the Cavs can't get Kemba without the Brooklyn pick. I didn't realize it wasn't there.

Cavs can't get walker even with the nets pick, because they have to try and throw in those scrubs Thompson, and schumpert. face it Cavs are stuck with a mid lotto pick, and a terrible future lol.

Pacers-Cavs-Timberwolves

PACERS get Rubio, Dieng, Pekovic, 1st round pick from Cleveland 2017

CAVS get Paul George

TIMBERWOLVES get Kevin Love

The Pacers get a relatively young point guard and a young big to go with a late 1 round pick. I'd throw in 2 if I need to if I'm Cleveland. I think Paul George will make a huge difference compared to Kevin Love. Kevin Love gets to pull a LeBron and go back to where he began his career, only this time with a much better supporting cast. He immediately plugs into the PF spot to form a big 3 with Wiggins and Towns.

Actually very sensible but Timberwolves would at least have to give the Pacers their first pick this year.

2.) 19 Jun 2017 07:13:32
I think it makes more sense than George and Love straight swap. However, Cavs already dealt their 2017 1st to Portland. I think Pacers and Cavs could find a 3rd team willing to give up more attractive pieces for Love tho like the Nuggets for example. Not sure how willing Twolves would be to give up more when they should be able to get a solid pf prospect in Issac or Markkanen via the draft.

Really? Love back to Min.

4.) 19 Jun 2017 21:23:54
Love would be a good fit in that Minny team, only not sure they want him back.

As a pacersfan you make me cry, we should get this years lottery pick and a future pick.

5.) 19 Jun 2017 23:20:52
Agreed. Paul George is worth more but I think they have very little leverage at this point. Any team has to be worried he will bolt for LAL and LAL knows they can have him for free in free agency. So why would anyone give up much for him? That's why I settled on that package.

I'd love to see Wall in Minnesota and think they can put together a decent offer but I don't think they should add Pekovic (his contract isn't that bad and its almost up) .

I don't think 76ers would accept the second deal since Jones is just meh and 76ers don't need another non-shooter (Simmons hasn't shown a reliable shot yet) that would kill spacing.

76ers could put together a convincing offer for Wall too.

New York Knicks and Miami Heat Trade

Knicks get:
Luol Deng
Justice Winslow
Chris Anderson
Tyler Johnson/Gerald Green (after December 15)

Heat get:
Carmelo Anthony

The Knicks would have to cut multiple players to make this deal work but I think it makes a lot of sense for both sides. The Knicks get rid of Carmelo and leave the purgatory they are in with him on the roster. They cut $16 Million off their salary cap this offseason and get Justice Winslow to pair with Porzingis for the future.

The Heat form a new Big 3 to keep them in title contention for another 2-3 years.

Winslow has to much upside to trade for Carmelo who's getting old. Plus they lose there bench.

2.) 12 Dec 2015 17:10:39
Depends on what you are trying to accomplish. If you are interested in utilizing Wade while he's still effective, this move makes sense because realistically, Wade and Melo are on the same general timeline for years of effeciency (a couple remaining) . If you are planning for the future (which to be honest, the heat don't appear to be with the large signings of players around 30) then this doesn't make sense for the reasons Nate said.

3.) 12 Dec 2015 20:58:26
I think this deal has merit. Heat core is older, the East looks winnable, and really all you're truly giving up for Melo is Winslow.

4.) 13 Dec 2015 07:01:08
Knicks decline trade. Knicks don't want heat thrash and the salary doesn't add up. Its a reason teams don't trade all their thrash players for a guy making 20+ million a yr.

Melo has to waive his no trade clause

Only way melo goes to heat is a sign and trade with whiteside.
