Cavs Thomas Crowder 2018 nets pick

Celtics Kyrie Irving

Cali916

1.) 22 Jul 2017 01:06:15
Value is solid and would be a great move that would set Cavs up decently for the short term and long term (if Lebron leaves don't have to resign Thomas) . However, I think the fact that Boston and Cleveland are rivals complicates this trade since even if Cavs are taking the long route and want a complete rebuild the Celtics with Kyrie who is only 25, Smart, Tatum, Brown and their other draft picks are a team that isn't going anywhere anytime soon.

This trade may make Celtics slightly worse in the short term and possibly even in the long term but it could make sense because it would save Celtics a lot of money in not having to resign Thomas (Kyrie signed 2 more years with 3rd year player option), Kyrie is younger, bigger (although not a great defender isn't as much of a liability as 5ft 9 IT) and proven (unlike Nets pick) and opens up more minutes for young guys on the wing.

Personally if I were Celtics I'd try and lowball to start but I wouldn't be upset giving this up for Kyrie who is a proven playoff performer that is young enough to grow with the team and helps out a ton financially. I'd prefer giving up Tatum or Brown and one of their future picks instead of Crowder and Nets pick due to Crowder's cheap contract and the upside of the Nets pick which is likely to provide a young big man (things are kinda crowded on the wing already) .

Nets Randle Deng future 2nd rd pick

Lakers Cap

Nets get Randle takes Deng contract since they missed out on free agents

Russell
Lin
Deng
Randle
Mosgof

Cali916

1.) 18 Jul 2017 16:42:27
If it took Russell to get rid of Mozgov it'll take significantly more to move Deng. Russell is a better prospect than Randle as he can play either guard position where Randle is an old-fashioned offensive big man that doesn't have prototypical center size. Randle is also entering the final year of his contract and will get a significant pay raise in RFA. Deng's contract is also bigger than Mozgov's and Deng is older.

2.) 18 Jul 2017 23:22:54
Well that's not entirely true

It took Russell to get rid of Mozgov, but they also got back B Lopez and #27 pick. Let's not pretend BKN didn't give up any assets in that trade.

In this scenario, they give up nothing except cap space. However, they only have $16.5M in cap space and can't take Deng and Randle w/ out sending a player marking at least $5M.

Lakers 2017

Rondo 1y 20m

Waiters 1y 20m

Ball Rondo
Waiters Clarkson
Ingram Deng
Randle Nance Jr
Lopez Zubac

1.) 03 Jul 2017 14:08:06
Cali916: I think either Rondo or Waiters at 20mill for 1 yr works. I think Lakers would want to lrave more cap flexibility this year i'm case something comes up at the trade deadline. But as a sixer fan, I like your ideas. Puts Lakers in that 6-12 range, meaning we keep LAs pick next year.

I really don't get Pacers why trade Pg13 to okc for that package when the Lakers offered Clarkson or Randle 27th and 28th pick they could have drafted a SF and a PG

Cali916

1.) 01 Jul 2017 04:56:51
Victor is a hometown boy. Maybe he'll do good with the Pacers.

2.) 01 Jul 2017 08:55:44
He is going to sign for the Lakers anyways so why would they trade assets?

3.) 01 Jul 2017 15:52:43
Because that lakers package sucks?

4.) 01 Jul 2017 18:04:01
Olidipo is better than either of those players and not much older and Sabonis is worth more than two late picks. It seems like they could have gotten a better package from Boston or the Cleveland, but the deal they got was better than the supposed offer from LA.

5.) 03 Jul 2017 10:30:22
Boston would only offer a non Nets ord LA pick, so late first round picks ( Memphis and Clippers picks are protected and Philly propably makes te playoffs)

La would only offer clarckson, Randle and a late first round pick.

The Cleveland offer, trading him for love, would be stupid. Love is Older, injuryprone and only on a two year contract.

so i think this is the best offer we could get for PG13
I like Sabonis. He's a modern power forward. And Oladipo can still become a star.
Orlando used him the wrong way as a pg in his first year. His second year was good, but they played him behind Fournier in his third year.
He didn't fit in OKC
I believe he can become an all star in Indy. He should be able to score 20 points a game.

Lateral move at best for the Cavs if not a worse fit.

If Cavs wants to beat the warriors next year they will need to trade Love

Cali916

1.) 13 Jun 2017 16:58:01
Love is just the scape goat. It wasn't like he had a bad series. A lot of it is just how good GS is, but Irving and Lebron weren't consistent on the defensive end (along with most of the team. ) It's one thing when they get beat by great offense, but there were plenty of missed assignments, confusing plays, and lack of effort plays. Lou needs to focus on defense more and quit thinking they can go up and down with the Warriors. They need to slow the pace. If they can get a two way star for Love or a few two way players, it needs to be explored, but Love wasn't a liability.

2.) 13 Jun 2017 20:56:44
The problem with love is the same he's had for his career. Good rebounder. Terrible defender. And his offense is rather limited. He just shoots threes. He gets stats but he's replaceable. I don't understand why people think he is so valuable. Offensively he is really not that valuable. Channing frye can basically do the same at a higher percentage.

3.) 14 Jun 2017 02:11:04
Love is a very good player but I don't think he is a great #3 option. Preferably you'd want your 3rd best guy to be more versatile where they don't have to score or even really have to have the ball much to influence the game but depending on matchup could get you 20 pts or so. Although they've worked him in better overtime he isn't a natural fit and they could probably get similar production out of a much less skilled player (this is why I think he should be traded not due to his play) . Love isn't the reason they loss but he is kinda being wasted on Cavs and could bring in more value and depth to the team via a trade.

A team like Nuggets I think would be a great destination for him and Cleveland could get back a mix of good players that can help them now and some younger ones to give them a little more upside. Maybe like Chandler, Faried, Harris and Hernangomez for Love and Frye (to match salary) .

Love's a good rebounder but I think has lost the grittiness he had in Minnesota and that lack of energy makes him not as dependable to keep that clutch rebound you need (Thompson and Love have historically been great rebounds but they just got outworked by much smaller Draymond Green and less talented Pachulia among others) .

no deal Suns want Ball to play with Booker so if they want that Lakers want Suns 2018 pick not Heat 2018 pick and Suns can keep the 32nd pick.
