Hawks: 3 reasons to do this trade
1. Move up 16 spots and pick up a late lottery selection that will result in a talented guard such as Shai Gilgious- Alexander or Lonnie Walker being available to replace Schroder
2. Adding Kenneth Faried's contract is not a big deal to the hawks, who are rebuilding and won't use that money anyway
3. This trade gets rid of their conflict with Dennis Schroder, and allows Lloyd Pierce to start his tenure without having to deal with a player who doesn't want to be in ATL
Nuggets: 3 reasons to do this trade
1. They get rid of Kenneth Farieds' massive contract, that has been hurting their cap space, ever since they signed him
2. Giving up the 14th pick is not that big of a deal for the Nuggets, because they already have tons of young talent, jockeying for playing time, and adding another young piece would spread the minutes thinner. Plus they get a late 1st rounder, that could result in a nice developmental prospect for the future.
3. The nuggets have already stated that they are willing to give up 14 for getting rid of Kenneth Faried's contract, getting a young athletic point guard is just icing on the cake. This allows Jamal Murray to go back to his natural position at SG, and fills the role of PG that the Nuggets have needed this season.
This trade makes a lot of sense for both teams, and would make both teams closer to their objectives. The nuggets would have a starting PG to propel them into the playoffs. The Hawks would add another talented rookie, to help their rebuild.

I mean, you can pay this if you want, but the rumor is that the Nuggets will do Faried and 14 for a 2nd rounderl.

If Denver does not want to commit the starting PG role to Murray, then this makes sense.

This trade is awful for the hawks. Otto Porter: an average SF who is over paid making 25 mil a year, and two terrible contracts in Reggie Jackson and Cody Zeller, do not warrant a second round pick let alone the number 3 pick in the draft.

Why in the world would the Timberwolves give up Karl Anthony Towns: a proven 22 year old all star center with the potential to be an all time, for Kevin Love: a 30 year old above average Power Forward, who is only going to get worse, and two bench players? I understand that doing trades is hard, but this move for the TWolves is just completely absurd.
