Why in the world would Pelicans trade Cousins for a worse and older center in Lopez who will be a FA just like Cousins after next season? The fact Lakers are getting Cousins for Houston Pick, Clarkson and Mozgov is comical.

Second trade is almost as terrible. Nobody will give up assets for Deng.

Hilarious, You use NBrooklyn and Utah to dump two terrible contracts. But in the case of the Pelicans you grab an all star for a far less better Center and a couple second rounders. wow Man that is bad.

Love Lakers fans. So unrealistic.

THe best part Is this laker season fan thinks this is a realistic trade. Lovely.

Every time i get mad at the Asik contract, i look at the Deng contract and feel slightly better. And it is always funny watching Laker fans draw up trade proposals to get out of it.

3.) 04 May 2017 15:26:47
Gordon is the most valuable player in the deal and you have the Magic taking on Deng's contract. The Magic would want no part of this offer.

4.) 04 May 2017 16:12:24
To add to this. Randle is in the final year of his contract, and will be looking at a significant, undeserved raise. So essentially, the two best pieces are Gordon, then Mario, then Randle, then DJ. deng is just awful.

Not to mention, the lakers are giving like 5 million too much in order for this to work. Just stupid.

5.) 04 May 2017 17:52:12
I disagree that Gordon and herzonja are better them randle. I don't think there's an arguement for any of the three to be clearly the better player.

This ultimately, as already said, comes down to randle needing a new contract and not enough going to Orlando to take on the deng contract.

suns:
mozgov and brewer

lakers:
chandler and knight

You are joking right? No way Suns accept this!

2.) 09 Mar 2017 16:03:01
Knight has been playing very poorly and has a decently sized contract but I think he still has some value due to his age and that he showed promise a few years ago (when he was in a larger role and also preinjury) . In this trade Suns are basically taking on a worse contract (Movgov's is longer and more $$ than Chandler's) in order to dump Knights contract (Brewer is an expiring deal) . I think Phx can do better.

Even for Lakers not sure I like it. Net they aren't exactly clearing much cap space (adding salary in the short term with Brewer an expiring deal) and if Lakers keep their draft pick getting Knight too would squeeze rotation providing less minutes to develop their young players.

Lakers probably need to throw in a draft pick.

pacers:
clarkson, randle , deng, hou 1st pick

lakers:
george, ellis and stuckey

l.paci

1.) 09 Mar 2017 13:51:38
If you want George you'd need to include your 1st rounder and one of Ingram or Russell.

2.) 09 Mar 2017 16:19:01
We rather trade PG13 to Boston for Zeller, than accepting that offer.

3.) 09 Mar 2017 16:20:54
That return is awful for Pacers especially since they aren't getting either of Lakers top prospects (Randle or Ingram or potentially their 2017 draft pick) and they are taking Deng's contract back. Houston's pick is going to be at the tail end of the first round too. However, if George won't resign with Pacers they could be stuck with an offer like this or nothing since George has already publicly stated he'd like to return to Cali which may make a team like Boston wary of offering more since he could still go to LA in FA so may make more sense for them to keep all their assets and just pitch they have a more championship ready team and try to nab him in FA. Although getting his Bird rights is a big thing too.

Although the Lakers could just sign George for nothing in 2018 I think this deal would be worth considering for them especially if they keep their pick this year. By trading for George they'd get his Bird rights which effectively would enable them to add another star (i. e. Westbrook) in 2018 FA. They could probably do even better than that since they'd get Clarkson and Deng off the books and Ellis and Stuckey would expire then too so their only other major contract would be Mozgov (who they could potentially add a sweetener like future pick to get a team like Nets to take him) .

The only way I see Lakers saying no is if they lose their pick in 2017 to Sixers in which case they'd have their 2018 pick and getting George now would severely lower the value of that pick and likely make it no longer a lotto pick (In that scenario I'd just include it in the deal too to try and convince Pacers to do it but they still shouldn't) .

4.) 09 Mar 2017 17:00:36
Lakers top prospects (Russell* or Ingram ) not Randle. Randle is a solid player and I think could compliment Turner well but don't think he is the level prospect (as far as ceiling) as Russell, Ingram or Ball, Fultz, Jackson or Smith.
