Magic Offseason-

1. Fire Frank Vogel, fire entire front office.

2. Hire Chris Fleming as the new head coach. He is the current Nets Assistant coach and the Brooklyn is having a more successful season than expected. Still a bottom five team but they have shown some signs of growth this season. He also worked overseas for 15 years where he racked up championships in Germany.

3. Hire David Griffin (former Cavs GM) as their new GM to begin full rebuild.

4. Draft night trade:

Magic Receive-8th overall pick (projected), 47th overall pick (projected), and Cameron Payne

Bulls Receive- 4th overall pick, Shelvin Mack

5. Magic draft:
-Collin Sexton (pg) with the 8th overall pick (projected)

-Kenrich Williams (sf) with the 40th overall pick (projected)

-Goga Bitadze (c) with the 47th overall pick (projected)

6. Assign Williams and Bitadze to the G-League

7. Resign Aaron Gordon to a maximum contract

8. Trade:

Magic Receive: Andre Roberson, Alex Abrines, 2020 top 8 protected first round pick, 2019 second round pick

Thunder Receive: Evan Fournier

9. Sign Seth Curry to a 1 year 8 million dollar contract
-He will be a nice starting shooting guard to get buckets

10. Sign Ersan Illyasova to the veterans minimum

11. Resign Aaron Afflalo and Mo Speights

2018-2019 Starting Lineup

1-Collin Sexton/Cameron Payne/D.J Augustin
2-Seth Curry/Terrance Ross/Aaron Afflalo
3-Jonathan Issac/Jonaton Simmons/Wesley Iwundu
4-Aaron Gordon/Mo Speights/Ersan Ilyasova
5-Nikola Vucevic/Bismack Biyombo

I don't like the trade. Moving up 4 spots at that part of the draft should cost the Bulls more than Payne, who's been a non factor on a bad team and a 2nd. I don't think it should be as much as Philly gave up to go 3 to 1, but either a lottery protected pick or a young player with starting potential.

2.) 20 Feb 2018 18:31:21
1, they just hired an all new front office last year, and were strapped from the previous regime. Hammond has done a good job everywhere he went, and just needs time to change the direction. Also Orlando has had too many coaches in the past decade, no need to change.

2, They went the young hot assistant route already.

3, Griffin did nothing with arguably the best player ever.

4, Should be self explanatory, but that's just bad.

5, 4th (or better) Young has more upside and better scorer.

6, whew

7, I like Gordon. He's the only player close to stardom. Not worth a max though.

8, we already own their pick

9, no need unless you find another trade

10, ok I guess. Think he'd rather contribute on a winning team if making less, than sitting 3rd on a losing bench

11, Afflalo hasn't done anything for this team, not even as mentorship goes.

3.) 20 Feb 2018 22:15:04
Cam Payne is not a sweetener to move down four spots for.

4.) 21 Feb 2018 02:29:44
David Griffin won a chip with Lebron buddy.

5.) 21 Feb 2018 02:34:03
football father I have trouble seeing what you're saying, Aaron Gordon is the only player that they have on the team. They need to pay him. Tre Young is a massive defensive liability and there is a lot of question about how he will fair in the NBA. Collin Sexton is built, athletic, a great defender and passer AND he can shoot. Afflalo is just their to fill up a roster spot and he is a good mentor. You literally are an amateur when it comes to basketball knowledge. Bye-Bye!

6.) 21 Feb 2018 02:34:39
Triangle O Cam Payne is a young player and the pick is the focal point of the deal.

7.) 21 Feb 2018 04:59:44
Tostitochip, be real man. If you think that Cam Payne gets you a chance to move up four spots, then I would love to sell you Patti Mills for pick 8 alone.

1.) 20 Feb 2018 01:02:33
Gasol is worth more than a late first.

2.) 20 Feb 2018 01:31:12
No way ANY head coach would sign a 1 yr deal, unless it's an extension . 3 to 5 yr minimum.

3.) 20 Feb 2018 05:00:20
The point is that the Grizzlies are trying to gain assets in this deal. This is just the preliminary basis of the deal. You can always throw in Deounte Murray if you want to sweeten the pot for Memphis. Yo are right though XXX he's worth more than a late first and I think Murray and possibly another draft pick would send this deal through.

4.) 20 Feb 2018 08:10:59
Gasol is worth more, but he's aging and had some injurys, so i'm not sure you can get fair value for him.

I like Memphis trading him for a pick.

1.) 18 Feb 2018 01:22:56
Phili would require a future first to take JR’s contract. Even then, it seems like a bad move for them, Smith is a cancer.

2.) 18 Feb 2018 02:04:36
Suns would rather keep Chandler than trade for Thompson-Kardashian. By the way, Len is unrestricted and unlikely to be in PHX next season.

3.) 18 Feb 2018 02:13:14
Sun's so no to Rich Paul players.

4.) 18 Feb 2018 02:44:06
Less years translates to more money. Not following the Hood valuation. It's hard to pull a good player in the late 1st, and 2nd round, so Ferguson for Korver, and a late 2nd is unlikely. Belinelli is a better offensive player than Smith, bigger, and cheaper. He's expiring too, and salaries don't match.

5.) 18 Feb 2018 04:53:30
The salaries wouldn't match now but the Sixers are likely to make moves in the offseason to make this work. J. R. Smith has been to the playoffs for the past few years and won a ring with Lebron. Marco Belinelli is just a shooter that doesn't have postseason experience other than when he was with San Antonio where he didn't make much of an impact. Why do you not understand the Rodney Hood deal again? They are giving a quality players 2 years with decent money. He hasn't proved himself as a starter yet so it would be wise to wait to give him the big pay day. He is also restricted and unlikely to receive many offers. Also When you say it's hard to pull good players in the late first round is simply false. Examples of quality players with futures in this league that were taken late in the draft are, Kyle Kuzma, Jordan Bell, Patrick McCaw, Tim Hardaway Jr., the list goes on. The Cavs want to clear Korvers 7 million dollar cap hit so that they can have more money to resign Lebron and other role players. They are giving up the second to lure the Thunder in to take the deal. The Cavs don't care about a second round pick when they are in need of money and youth players.

6.) 18 Feb 2018 05:18:47
You really took exception to my comment with a fervor. I can probably list 100/ 1guys 28-up and into the 2nd, let alone late 2nd you don't remember that didn't make it past a rookie contract. Kuzma is rare, Bell is rare. I wouldn't call McCaw a success story yet. His predecessor Clark hasn't fared so well in NOP. I comprehend what you wrote about Hood. I don't agree. Where is a comparable player, and deal to gauge his value. McCollum is the closest comparable. Hood is bigger, and better because of defense. Sixers would never want Smith. Remove the contract, say Belinelli, and Smith were available off waivers, and Belinelli is still picked over Smith.

7.) 18 Feb 2018 18:41:49
Bamba would be a good get for the Cavs, but I would prefer Jackson, if he's available and Lebron is still in the fold. He probably doesn't have the upside that Bamba has and won't be the shot blocker and rebounder in the NBA that Bamba will (he just lacks Bamba's raw athleticism and length), but he's a more versatile defender, is already a solid shooter, and imo is a little more NBA ready.

I think it's possible to slide him into an NBA starting 5 next year and he could be a plus player on team that just asks him to defend and hit open shots. I think Bamba is going to have t add weight and learn the game more before he's ready to contribute heavily to a good NBA team.

8.) 19 Feb 2018 01:16:46
I think people under value smith. But he did have a slump but looking in form now but he a starter on championship caliber team he has value and does make big shots and plays decent defense.

9.) 19 Feb 2018 12:32:40
True99, I somewhat agree. When he's engaged and his shot is falling, Jr can be one of the better players in the NBA. He's a solid and at times good defender, he brings toughness, irrational confidence, he can finish in crafty ways, he hits insane jumpers, he's a decent passer, and solid rebounder. That said, when JR is off, upset and etc., he can be downright awful on both ends and be a terrrivle presence to the rest of the team.

MEM-DEN Offseason Trade

Grizzlies Receive: Mason Plumlee, Kenneth Faried, Tyler Lydon, 2020 second round pick, 2019 top 17 protected pick

The Grizzlies have to take on Kenneth Faried who isn't worth the 12 million that you have to pay him But he only has about two years left and Memphis really won't attract any big free agents at all. Mason Plumlee could learn a lot from Marc Gasol and possibly raise his ceiling. Two future pick will be thrown in to sweeten the pot for Memphis as they use their franchise cornerstone to a conference rival. They will be going into to full rebuild mode after this season and will want to tank+dump their stars for some future assets.

Grizzlies Starting Lineup:

1-Andrew Harrison
2-Wayne Selden (Tyreke Evans walks)
3-Dillon Brooks
4-Jamycal Green
5-Marc Gasol

Nuggets Receive: Mike Conley, Deyonta Davis, Ben Mclemore

The Nuggets, who are in "win now" mode, finally get their point guard to be the catalyst of the offense+young/bench pieces for the future and present.

Nuggets lineup:

1-Mike Conley
2-Gary Harris
3-Will Barton
4-Paul Millsap
5-Nikola Jokic
Sixth Man=Jamal Murray

tostitochip17

1.) 14 Feb 2018 18:21:18
Memphis passes. I can't see them taking on an over priced Plumlee, Faried's expiring, Lydon (just under went a knee surgery and hasn't played a minute this year), a late 1st, and a 2nd. It probably costs a 1st just to get rid of Plumlee.

2.) 14 Feb 2018 20:18:33
DEN plays well with Jokic, and Plumlee on the floor together. Plumlee is a bit more physical than Jokic, and passes equally as well. Both teams lose key pieces to their core. Both teams pass.

3.) 14 Feb 2018 23:19:43
The Grizzlies want to clear out the long term deal of Mike Conley and the Nuggets desperately need a point guard to run the offense. That is more crucial to them than physicality in the paint. Tyler Lydon was a first round draft pick, they get future picks which is exactly what they need. They don't even have a first rounder from 2017 and nearly any youth. I don't see why Denver or Memphis would pass.

4.) 15 Feb 2018 11:39:44
Never heard a thing about the Griz "wanting" or "needing" to trade Gasol or Conley? Is that a sporting news trade rumor? I avoid that particular site. Jamal Murray has been great, and getting better as the season passes. Just beat the tar out of S. A. Last night? I am not as informed about these teams dealings, or privy to your information stream.

3. Promote front office position such as Scott Perry to president and fire Steve Mills

4. Knicks/Warriors Trade

a. Warriors Receive: Kyle O-Quinn

b. Knicks Receive: GS 2018 first round pick, Patrick McCaw

1.) 14 Feb 2018 06:23:39
Trade Lee for Asik if CHI is open to it, (Asik expires next season) maybe A. Jefferson? Discourage Kanter from signing if possible, (terrible on defense without Porzingis) Trade if possible for value. Take on Biyombo, or Dieng, and a good player or pick. I like the valuation on Beasley. No more than 2 years for Beez though. Bridges, Lee, Thomas way too similar to M. Leonard, Harkless, Turner. Avoid that. Burke will have interest from other teams if Knicks don't pay a little more. No on Nogueira. Pray Ntilikina shows something soon, and isn't another Caboclo. I'd trade him for value now that Mudiay is there. Burke is better too. BOS, and PHI are showing everyone the example of how to build. CHI, LAC are doing good too. No Mills, no Hornacek. Hire Udoka from S. A. Or Stackhouse from G-league. See if Steve Nash wants to coach? One of the hardest workers, and fundamentals guy to ever play. His style was the new NBA. Get a coach to grow with the players. Calipari too high profile paid too much too. Porzingis is the star, not the coach. 2019 is a good free agent summer. Be prepared with cap. Round out the roster with scrappy hard working non-guaranteed deals. Hardaway, Beez, Porzingis, Mudiay, this years pick are the foundation.

2.) 14 Feb 2018 07:34:54
Anyone know if Knicks could pay Noah 30 million next season, and 6 the following in a buy-out? With Zinger out, and next season likely a rebuilding year take the brunt of the contract all at one time?

3.) 14 Feb 2018 11:03:39
Trust the calamity (New York )

4.) 14 Feb 2018 13:07:53
No one should hire Calipari. The guy is a great recruiter, but only a mediocre coach. They should just eat Noah's contract. I don't see Kanter opting out of his contract this year and if he did, he isn't getting 20 million. There aren't a ton of teams with big cap space. I think that's an over pay for Beasley as well.

5.) 14 Feb 2018 16:36:24
I never understand all this love for Calipari. He gets the top guys year in and year out but has only done something with the top talent once. Like you said great recruiter but VERY mediocre coach.

6.) 14 Feb 2018 17:35:11
Thats why he will be good for a big market team. To attract free agents. come on now Larry use your head.

7.) 15 Feb 2018 01:15:03
Jay Wright.

8.) 15 Feb 2018 17:16:53
Tostitochip17, I don't think New York has really ever failed to attract free agents. The city speaks for its self. They have done that time and time again, just look back to 2010 when they had Melo and Amare. The problem has always been that they don't have a capable coach to surround these guys. Just having the best guys on one roster doesn't mean anything if the coach can't coach. And I think that's exact the case for Callipari.

Thunder Receive-Shabazz Muhamad,

The Thunder need a new wing. Muhamad is a versatile wing still under a rookie scale contract. He can stretch the floor, he is athletic, and would be the perfect complement to the duo of Paul George and Russell Westbrook. This will be huge for them come playoff time and if it doesn't workout, Muhamad is on an expiring deal.

Thunder Starting Lineup:
1-Russell Westbrook
2-Shabazz Muhamad
3-Paul George
4-Carmelo Anthony
5-Steven Adams
Timberwolves Receive-Nikola Mirotic

As of now, the Timberwolves are starting an aging Taj Gibson who is an offensive liability. Karl-Anthony Towns is a two way center that would benefit from an offensive complement aside him. Although Gibson is playing well and averaging 12 points a game, Mirotic is averaging 17 which is considerably more than Gibson. Gibson would also be a great addition to the bench.

Timberwolves Starting Lineup-
1-Jeff Teague
2-Jimmy Butler
3-Andrew Wiggins
4-Nikola Mirotic
5-Karl-Anthony Towns

Bulls Receive-Andre Roberson, 2020 first round top 10 protected Thunder pick, Nemanja Bjelica,
2019 top 20 protected Timberwolves pick

This is a salary haul for the bulls as they would acquire 14 million dollars on two multi year deals, however, they won't be attracting marquee free agents with the present roster and coaching staff. They acquire two more solid draft picks for the future which will be perfect for developing the youth.

Bulls Starting Lineup-
1-Kris Dunn
2-Zach Lavine
3-Denzel Valentine
4-Lauri Markkanen
5-Robin Lopez

tostitochip17

1.) 25 Jan 2018 13:20:02
Thunder says no. Roberson is way to important to give away for Muhamad.

22 Jan 2018 02:32:37
Cavs Receive- Spencer Dinwiddie, Rondae Hollis Jefferson, Jarrett Allen

The Cavs get a scoring, reliable point guard to come off the bench, a versatile defender in Hollis-Jefferson, and a rim protector/rebounder in Jarrett Allen. They also unload Channing Frye's contract and get two young players (Hollis Jefferson and Allen) that will benefit them now and be good starting pieces in case Lebron leaves in free agency and the Cavs go into rebuilding mode.

Cavs Lineup 2018:
1-Isaiah Thomas/Spencer Dinwiddie/Derrick Rose
2-J.R. Smith/Dwyane Wade
3-Lebron James/Jae Crowder
4-Kevin Love/Rondae Hollis Jefferson
5-Jarrett Allen or Tristan Thompson

Cavs Lineup 2019 (considering Lebron leaves and they don't resign Isaiah Thomas)-
1-Spencer Dinwiddie
2-J.R. Smith
3-Jae Crowder
4-Kevin Love
5-Jarrett Allen or Tristan Thompson

Nets Receive- Brooklyn pick 2018, Channing Frye, Jose Calderon, Ante Zizic

Nets Lineup 2018-
1-D'angelo Russell/Calderon
2-Allen Crabbe/Caris Levert
3-Demmare Carroll/Joe Harris
4-Channing Frye/Quincy Acy
5-Tyler Zeller/Jahlil Okafor/Ante Zizic

Nets Lineup 2019 (considering they have the money to attract free agents with the youth they now have)-
1-D'angelo Russell
2-Caris Levert
3-Luka Doncic
4-Julius Randle-(Lakers do not match deal)
5-Jahlil Okafor

The Nets receive their own pick and will be able to control where that falls in the upcoming draft, two expiring deals, and a young center with potential. It's time the Nets begin their youth movement and although they would have to give up two nice young players, they would receive a high lottery pick and Ante Zizic who could be a nice fit alongside Jahlil Okafor. If the Nets handle the draft right and Luka Doncic, Michael Porter or Marvin Bagley is still available, they could be a force to be reckoned with in the East come 2019
