Bulls say no. #5, lavine, and some role players for butler? Sixers posters were laughed at when they suggested #1, Okafor, and role players for butler. The difference between 1 and 5 in this draft is night and day.

Is the obsession with sign and trades around here a product of the ESPN trade machine? Can anyone tell me when the last actual sign and trade happened in the NBA?

Sign and traded only happen when the guy is going to get max money. Its done to get the extra year added.

Sixers wouldn't trade 1 and Okafor for butler.

I remember a few years back the Pistons and the Bucks both did a sign and trade with Jennings going from the Bucks to the Pistons and Knight going from the Pistons to the Bucks. And I believe that neither got the max amount of money nor years, not totally sure though.

This year might actually be a boom in sign and trades with the cap increase. Everyone will have cap room, teams won't give up their restricted free agents without compensation.

The players would have to be restricted free agents then I guess.

Hmm, interesting. Wasn't trying to be a jerk its just that at least 50% of the proposed trades I see have some S&T component and it just seems like it rarely actually happens in the NBA.

Think they are using sign and trade with the desperate hope their team gets some value for a guy they don't have anymore. If Noah wants to go to Minnesota they have plenty of cap space to get him and there isn't anything Bulls can do about it except offer him more money and hope he prefers them. Restricted free agent is another story since their old team has final say.
