That is big win for Knicks. They could clear a bunch of salary. Not sure how likely they are to land those FA but having cap space is never a bad thing. I don't think Melo will have much trade value (not cause he is a bad player, he is still among top scorers in the league) and both he and the Knicks would be best moving on.

If I'm the Bulls I don't like the deal. They can have up to like 53M in cap space this summer. I'd rather just add someone like Millsap then getting Melo and having to take on Noah's contract which will prevent them from adding another solid piece.

While getting rid of Noah's deal would be awesome, trading Melo and only getting Rondo back is a no go.

Triangle O getting rid of Noah's contract in the deal would save them 1st. Melo's no trade clause means anything more than expiring contracts makes it a win for the Knicks. Melo can dictate any trade terms. Why would he want the team he's going to to lose more than the very minimum? I think a first or a first and expiring contracts will get him. Melo can pick any team interested and force the trade. Melo can stop any bidding war.

Rkenne_16, you just said the magic word that's missing from this post, a 1st. As per my point, Rondo alone doesn't get Melo. Throw in the Bulls 1st, and the Knicks send back the Bulls 2nd and the deal works.

I think a first would be easier to get for Carmelo than getting rid of Noah's contract, but it would be hard to get both in the deal. It would be hard to find a contender willing to take on 40+ million to add 1 player.

Wait hold up, you want rondo and a 1st for the worst contract in basketball and a player that your president literally couldn't get austin rivers for at the deadline? No thanks.

Who says the Knicks could not get Rivers for Melo at the deadline. Though the Prez is a complete moron who doesn't understand that bad mouthing a player brings down their value, we don't know who or what caused a deal to fall apart. Based on Phil's moronic handling of a Rose for Rubio trade, he probably asked for more than we know (ie. Reddick instead of Crawford or Johnson) .

Actually, he literally could get austin rivers for melo, but didn't want him.

As to rkenne. do you follow sports? You post a lot but really just sound foolish.

Yes, he has a no trade clause, which he will use, if he decides he wants out. HE WANTS OUT. So why would he not tell the knicks which team he will be traded for and which scrub he will allow them to take? Because the knicks just won't trade him. Melo has only the power to say no. He has ZERO power to decide who gets traded.

Besides. he loves new york, he hates the knicks management. He has business in new york. What player goes, oh man, let me screw the knicks hard becase i want a better team where i go. Ohhh man yeah. Name a single trade in which the player with the no trade told the management which team he will allow, then told the management which players he will allow them to seek in return. Moron.

Melo has the power to agree or veto anytime he wants. He literally has all the power in this situation. He can opt out at the end of next season and the worse thing the Knicks can do is sit him. Then they lose him for nothong. All the while frustrating Porzingis even more. The Knicks are going to get next to nothing for Melo. You're delusional if you think otherwise. Jackson is in a terrible position.

Boy, it's hard to figure out a possible trade for Anthony in which the Knicks save face. Management usually holds all the cards, but right now the player himself and other teams are calling the shots.
Maybe PJax should just step away and tell Anthony's agent to work out any deal he can.

Whether he could or couldn't get Rivers for melo is a trite point (although i stand by the fact that I've heard he couldn't) . The point is that Melo does not get you back a 1st.

Phil has told the world he doesn't want him, his contract is high, and he's on the wrong side of 30. The Knicks have no leverage what so ever to bring back a 1st. Especially from a team like Chicago who needs every pick they can get.
