You’d have to give up that pick unprotected just to get off of Schroeder and Roberson contracts.

Robersons contract would be expiring so i don't think they would have to give up a pick to get rid of him a team could take him to free up cap for next offseason. And with how many teams have plenty of salary space i don't think they would have to include a 1st just to get rid of Schroders contract. It isn't the best but he is someone who can start and some teams are in need of a PG i think to the right place they don't have to include a 1st to get rid of him.

You may want to review what Denver gave up to clear Faried and Arthur's expiring contracts on their roster last year. $21 mil in expiring deals cost them this years first round pick and a second rounder. OKC's first rounder this year and Schroeder for a second rounder in return would be about right just looking at the salaries.

Roberson is dead cap, no one is taking him for free without unloading a longer contract or getting a pick back. "a team could take him to free up cap for next offseason" means unloading future salary (not tied to an all star) .

And Schroder is a bottom tier starting PG or solid backup. His contract isn't good. It takes assets to get rid of him.

I wasnt talking about this specific deal when i said they wouldn't have to use a pick to clear Roberson obviously they won't get an all star for Roberson. They could trade him to a team that wants cap space that has someone for 2 or 3 years but will produce more for Thunder. Just an example i'm not saying this happens but say the heat want to clear cap space they could trade Johnson or Olynik both with 2 more years than Roberson for Roberson just swap. OKC could get back someone that can help them and heat could clear another 10+ mil for next year when dragic and whiteside would also be expiring so they could go after a big name free agent. Again just an example.
And the Schroder thing i know his contract isn't the best and he is a bottom tier starter but i guarntee if u had a team desperate for a PG and had cap space which many teams have cap space this off season they could off load Schroder without including picks or young assets.
Everyone said they couldn't move Melo they moved him and got a solid backup PG without giving up assets they also got TLC in that deal which they moved to bulls for a 2nd round pick. So for Melo they got a solid back up PG and a 2nd round pick. The unmovable can be moved in the right situation.
