Why not Washington as a Paul destination?

Okc can afford to wait for Wall. If he comes back, he's younger than Paul. At this point, a change of scenery could bring him back to star form. Plus they add more picks.

Washington can't afford to wait forever on wall with Beal being a potential flight risk. They also get a guy with a chip on his shoulder and one less year on his deal. This could help them get closer to being a solid playoff team.

Because Paul doesn't get Washington anywhere so why give up future 1st rounders in order to get him.

Washington can afford to wait once somebody gives Washington a treasure trove for Beal.

Whether or not it’s rational, I think that the Wizards are committed to Wall. I agree with your trade though. It’s too bad that they can’t do a conditional pick like the thunder get one first rounder and if Wall sits more than a certain percentage of the first two seasons they get a second one.

Okc could afford his contract, yes, but “IF” Wall does not come back 100% healthy (which is more likely than not), then he will be way overpriced and for more years than CP3.

The risk of having an 80% J Wall on your team that is in a 2-3 year rebuild, makes no sense to take that chance on, even if they offered 3 1st Rd picks.
Plus they would be stuck with him because no one else would trade for him at his salary.

Your agruement would hold water if OKC wasn't already "stuck" with Paul. Would you rather be stuck or stuck with draft picks (or lose picks depending on which side you are on) .

Agreed Fredman. I think both of those teams would be smart to hold those guys if the only other option is give away assets to unload them.

Is Beal/ Paul winning a championship? Is it even a top 4 seed in the east? Pretty sure the answer to both is no. So why mortgage your future for a first round beating for a few years?

I would rather be “stuck” with Paul. He isn’t coming off a career ending injury and he’s already fully capable of playing right now. Plus the year that Chris Paul finishes his contract, Wall will still be owed another 47 mil.

Now in 2 years, if Wall is playing at an all-star caliber level again, then I’ll know I was wrong. But in my opinion, he’s not worth the risk of waiting around to find out, especially if the gamble will cost 47 mil.
