I think the price is fair for MIN, and they can use an upgrade at PG. I have Wiggins as the 2nd worst contract in the NBA abs Paul as #3, so the rest of the package works. Unfortunately, there are two problems.

First, MIN is not a win-now team. They are tremendously shallow after giving up Taj Gibson, Bayless, Tolliver, and Derek Rose in favor of young, unproven player. Improving MIN’s starters is not enough to cover for how badly their bench will do this year, if they are trying to compete.

Second, after the Jimmy Butler debacle, MIN will not risk alienating KAT again by bringing in an alpha male. Chris Paul was demanding the ball from James freakin’ Harden, so he would be a tyrant in MIN. Paul’s deal is better than Wiggins, but to swap his arrogant presence for KAT’s buddy Wiggins would risk the front office’s relationship with their star, and they can’t risk that.

I think any “Chris Paul to MIN” deals are D. O. A. - he is the very last person in the NBA they would trade for.

Not a chance Minnesota trades for CP3. I would rather have Teague at PG, with his expiring contract, over CP3.

Plus, adding CP3 destroys any cap space for Minnesota. Even if they did this trade, they wouldn't have any cap space to add anyone plus are down a 1st round pick.

Minnesota is better off waiting out Teague and Dieng, which would give them cap flexibility, and then draft smart. Maybe they finally get some lottery luck for a change.
