I doubt it, but if the Bulls are to pursue Davis next season here is a proposal.

CHI/OKC

CHI get Danilo Gallinari (exp) & Andre Roberson (exp)

OKC get Thad Young, Tomas Satoransky, Christiano Felicio, Daniel Gafford, 1st round pick & 2 2nd round picks

They save 32M next season, maybe Bulls could throw in another future protected 1st to OKC since Thunder will be swallowing all those contracts

If the contracts work and if the Bulls are serious about Davis, something like this would work for both teams. In the East, you only need one or two stars to grab a high seed in the playoffs. The Bulls need that star.

I really like the trade for both teams. The Bulls just give up one valuable asset, the 1st round pick. If they can't get AD, they can replace Satoransky with another FA on the same level. So the risk is very low, as they can keep the young core. So it doesn't set back the team 3 years @Fredman.

OKC gets one more 1st rounder and can also trade Satoransky to a contender who needs a PG.

Overall a really good proposal imo! @usa.

Yea the only way they do this is of they are 100% confident that Davis is going there. If not like Fredman said that would really hurt them going forward. Maybe they get lucky and resign Gallo if Davis doesn't sign, but even still they would have made a bad trade.

I guess it depends on the protections on the pick, but does this really set them back years if they don't get AD? If this is a lottery protected first, what do they give up that's incredibly valuable?

A second pick would be a mistake though. Even if you think you can get AD, two picks for a salary dump isn't very smart.

How does it set the Bulls back? Their core is there. One pick won't matter. Having a chance to get Davis is worth it. Look what getting George did for OKC. They ended up with a warchest, set to dominate for the next 15 years when the picks start rolling. They Bulls aren't good now and that's in the East, so what is there to set back?
