Why is okc sending first round pick? Paul is more valuable than love. Okc shouldn't give a pick to unload of Paul salary. He has a bad contract but not too bad to send a pick and take Waiters.

Plane and simple, Miami has made it Extremely clear that they don’t want Paul’s contract. Because of its 3rd year option. It doesn’t matter how much more valuable or well he is playing. They would only take it if there were several 1st rounders attached so they could use those to help trade him later on.
Miami is fully aware that he would help their team, but they have some younger players they are targeting in free agency of 2021-22.
On the flip side, Okc would never want to take back all those teams leftover junk being sent back to them for a starting point guard, good backup center and a 1st Round pick. Why hurt your team, while making the team whose 1st Round picks you have better?
