Ideas to help the knicks become somewhat respectable

1. Nyk trades randle smith jr & 8th pick

Atlanta trades John Collins

Or

2. Nyk trades randle smith jr 8th pick

Sacrament trades buddy hield

3. Sign van vleet at any cost

Not nearly enough for either player.

Not sure how adding either the second best player on one of the worst teams in the NBA or the 6th man from a non-playoff team makes the Knicks “respectable”.

I do think the 8th pick is enough value for either of them.

CJ for the 8th pick?

McCollum>Hield or Collins by quite a bit.

8th pick for Hield or Collins in this draft? Not a chance.

McCollum >>>> Hield.

"McCollum>Hield or Collins by quite a bit. "

Really? then tell me who is who using PER 36 min stats for this season.

Player A: 18.9 FGA, 22.5 PPG, 5.3 RebPG, 3.5 AstPG, 1.1 Stl, 39.4 3P%, 47.9 2P%, 84.6 FT%

Player B: 19.1 FGA, 21.9 PPG, 4.2 RebPG, 4.4 AstPG, 0.8 Stl, 37.9 3P%, .494 2P%, 75.7 FT%

IMO there is no SIGNIFICANT difference between these two players this season. Not sure where you are getting this "quite a bit" unless it is pure homerism which we all suffer from.

So if you are saying #8 is fair value for Hield, then it is also fair value for McCollum. But for some reason, I do not think BMiller will make that trade either.

This draft is 4 or 5 deep. Not much spread from 6 to 15 The 8th doesn’t do much w Randle. Knicks would have to eat a bad contract also to get a Collins or Hield level player

One guy has been the second best player on a team that went to the WCF, including being the guy that won game 7 in the second round.

One guy got benched by a non playoff team.

Stats are huge. Winning is just as important. McCollum has won. Heild hasn’t.

Situations is also important. Kings fans sound like Hield has a foot out the door. That doesn’t help his value. Olshey values McCollum to an extreme level.

Without Lillard, McCollum wouldn't be a winner. PERIOD! That doesn't give him more trade value. Just like the 10th man on a NBA championship team has little trade value (but he is a winner! ) . Nor does it mean that the Kings should accept a lowball offers for Hield.

Also since we are consideing extraneous factors, how about adding Hield is 2 years younger and costs almost $5 mil less next year? Same production for longer and cheaper. Factors you seemed to omit.

Cj is way better then heild and I don’t think dame would been Sucessful without cj. Switch cj and heild then the blazers would be a lottery team. Heild got benched cj helped dame make playoffs. In the East cj would be an all star unlike heild. You can trade cj and some picks for a star you can’t do that with heild.

Bench players and role players from successful teams get elevated all the time. It’s life. And McCollum is a lot more than a bench player (which Hield is now) .

Also, if you swap Buddy with CJ, Portland doesn’t make it out of the second round last year. Lillard is obviously a huge part of that. But McCollum was incredible last post season.

@Bmiller. Easier to say than to prove. Except to look at CJ's perforances without Lillard. Whole lotta Ls there.

I like both players. It's close, but I would take Hield bc he is younger and cheaper. He's not a bench player. The Kings asked him to come off the bench to help the team. Anyone who watched the Kings knows that. It's the same thing with Schroeder on OKC. He's a starter but was asked to come off the bench to add scoring punch. Two years difference in age is a lot less wear and tear. Add in playoff games and it's probably closer to three years difference of wear and tear. That tips the scale for me, although it might not to others bc McCollum does have playoff experience.
