wolves: 3rd pick or 2021 first round pick unprotected.


hornets: 1st pick , james johnson.

wolves cut 17 million salary. they need money to give hernangomez and beasley. they can even get cap room to sign a free agent before signing those 2 player. small market teams need money. minny get 3 pick or 2021 first round. they can choose next year's pick in a larger draft. hornets will be bad next year anyway. or they can choose this year pick.

hornets absorb johnson contract for trade up. we can choose wiseman. dumping johnson cost a first round pick and trading up 2 spots cost a first round pick. I think it is a win win.

I see your logic but I doubt either team likes it. The Hornets will likely be able to snag Wiseman at 3, so I don’t see a need to trade up. Johnson is an expiring contract so it’s not like the Twolves are getting major relief. Not really worth it for them to trade down or get a random pick next year.
