I like the concept, and MIN has a lot of Rubio fans, but I don’t think they can afford to do this. Next year, this adds about $30 mil onto the payroll if they intend to keep both, and they still haven’t addressed their biggest need - starting PF.
Also, while I think you Rubio and Russell could co-exist, you can’t pay him $18-19 to be a back up PG. I think a trade like this would have to mean a trade down of the #1, not the selection of Edwards.

It’s a fair trade, but Minnesota takes on too much salary.

Don't like this for Minnesota. They trade the guy they drafted 6th overall last year and the 17th pick to get a guy who will be a FA next summer and a PG (who is very popular in Minnesota) who may or may not be able to play with their current PG.

At trade deadline, OKC can flip Oubre for probably just as much as they are getting from Minny in this deal.
