I don’t get it for the Suns (I do, it’s impatience and trying to save your job) .

OKC just keeps stockpiling assets. If they can hit a home run on a draft pick, they’d be in perfect position to trade for a third star.

over the next three years this gives them the best chance to compete without giving up nothing.

Compete for what? They’re not close to the top tier of the west (LA, LA, Denver) . I don’t think they’re as good as Utah, Portland, or Dallas either, but they’re probably close.

Competing for the 6 seed and a 5 game first round exit?

And Oubre, Rubio, and a first isn’t nothing. They could have easily gotten a first and a young player for Oubre. Likely a first or a young player for Rubio. So they effectively gave up 3 firsts for Paul.

BMiller, not sure if you saw mmy past post about new stadium funding in Phoenix. Probably best explanation in my eyes.

Also, BMiller, I also think you are looking at this from the aspect of a team that has been in every playoffs for the last 10 years (Portland) instead from the aspect of a team who would feel like making the playoffs once WOULD be an accomplishment.

As a Kings fan, there is A LOT I would accept in order just to get the 6th seed. Maybe not trade Fox and Hield for Westbrook.

True Fredman, I just feel like I’m the only one that remembers watching Paul in 2018-2019 and thinking “this dude is done, Father Time has ended his time as a viable starter in the NBA. ”

The likelihood he turns back into that is really high. And their playoffs chances rest entirely on that factor. And even if he’s who he was last season, I’d put their odds at 50/ 50 at best.

Thanks Doza, it's appreciated! Presti is a genius on trades. He does need to work on his drafting though. He's about 50/ 50. I've been laying low seeing how things would pan out. Have to say I really like Oubre and we needed a wing bad. The first rounder, Oubre and Rubio is more than I thought they'd get for sure. I think Phoenix definitely overpaid.
Another first for Schroeder on an expiring is crazy good, too. Word here is they're trying to move up in the draft so they must like someone. I could see them packaging the Denver pick and Rubio to move up a few spots if there's a team needing a veteran point guard.

Suns look like a real good team. Booker Cp3 and Ayton is a real strong big 3 who can push any team to play well. I don’t think Utah is very good at all imo. Add good role players like Bridges Baynes Johnson Kaminksy and 10th pick (Cp3 heir? Lewis? ) and that’s a strong and deep bunch.

Also, with Harden and Westbrook both wanting out, Morey and D'Antoni gone, tell me all those Houston picks the Thunder have aren't starting to look really valuable over the next few years. and if George and Kawhi leave the Clippers because of the disfunction there, like the firing of Rivers, OKC could quite possibly have two to three lottery picks every year for the majority of the next five to seven years.

BMiller, that's what it is like playing with James Harden. draining and making someone feel old.
