It is the same - for the mass of you guys. You extend a contract and sign on new terms - y use it like a S&T in a trade - also in usa.

To sign and trade you need to do it in the offseason. Check also Poison Pill rule another reason your trade would not work even if Grimes was already extended in this rate by DAL. If this trade is for the following offseason, Ingram is FA so he should be Sign & Trade as well.
