Absolutely ridiculous. Sixers don't need to trade Noel to a bitter rival for that package of crap.

2.) 24 Jan 2016 14:08:36
@jvoug "bitter rival" is a bit too much. Celtics don't see the Sixers that way (at least from the fans perspective) and a true rivalry is always reciprocal. Lakers are rivals. 17 titles versus 16 for the Lakers (if you consider titles not won in LA) ; Bird versus Magic etc.
The Sixers just happen to be in the same division. That's all.

3.) 24 Jan 2016 15:42:52
So I guess the red Sox and Yankees rivalry wasn't a " true rivalry for 80 or so years until the Sox finally one a world series. Your point is absurd. And my main objective wasn't to point out the Celtics, it was to show how ridiculous this trade is from the Sixers fans.

4.) 24 Jan 2016 17:27:02
Um, it's rather astonishing you are comparing the Sixers-celtics to the yankees-red sox. I don't believe the sixers are even top 3 rivals with the celtics. I'd assume the Knicks and lakers are ahead, and seeing as the sixers are irrelevant, just wouldn't even lump them in there. There is no bitter rivalry between the two teams that would block a trade between them.

That being said, the trade is ridiculous. Sullinger is an out of shape, injury waiting to happen on I believe a restricted free agent contract. James young is what, 1 pts and half a rebound d-leaguer? And a top 20 protected 1st? Noel isn't going to be an all star most likely, but he's absolutely a solid/ good starter. This package is NOT of equal value.

5.) 24 Jan 2016 17:39:28
Ok, I agree that's not a good enough package for Noel, regardless of any rivalry.

6.) 24 Jan 2016 18:34:53
Not a chance from Sixers. Deal would start with smart or Bradley.

7.) 24 Jan 2016 20:36:15
Was never comparing the two situations, just pointing out to bhc who said the " winning" needs to be reciprocal in order to constitute a true rivalry, that his logic is illogical. That's all.

8.) 25 Jan 2016 18:44:57
Noel is a player of need for the Celtics. Sullinger's a pretty average player and James Young (who I liked coming into his years draft) 's literally in the D-League. Adding a top 20 protected pick doesn't really sweeten the pot that much for Sixers.

How about something that has Jae Crowder and Smart for Noel as the core with picks being added to balance it out. Sixers get a SF and PG and the Celts get their rim protecter.

BOSTON: A. Len and M. Hezonja

PHOENIX: J. Sullinger, J. Smith, and J. Jerebko

ORLANDO: M. Morris and Celtics own 1st
Round Pick.

Sullinger and a mid to late first doesn't get the Celtics the fifth pick in the draft and an up and coming center that was also picked at 5.

Utah Jazz receive - A. Bradley, J. Sullinger, and J. Jerebko

Boston Celtics receive - G. Hayward.

1.) 25 Dec 2015 20:43:09
Hayward = overrated

The only reason why the Celtics could do this is because Brad Stevens has a long time tie with Hayward from their days at Butler.

2.) 25 Dec 2015 22:09:59
hayward is underrated, he can score, rebound, assist. he is like a poor larry bird. how the hack he is overrated. plus, jazz has no intention to trade him consider he has upside becoming an all-star player, whereas bradley, sullinger and jerebko is never going to be an all-star. utah is a small team that no big star is going to go, they tend to create star player (d will, john stockon, malone, millsap), trade out an all-star level player for some players who have no upside as all-star player? utah is not that stupid.

Bad for the Celtics. Pointless for the Blazers.

Suns receive: A. Johnson, A. Bradley, J. Sullinger, and Dallas 1st round pick 2016 (top 20 protected)

Celtics receive: B. Knight and M. Morris.

1.) 25 Dec 2015 11:14:47
The pick is going the wrong way.

2.) 25 Dec 2015 14:57:19
For those who disagree, let me prove my point: Avery Bradley is more important to a team's success than Brandon Knight. Amir Johnson and Jared Sullinger are both just as good if not better than Markiff Morris, and they are not headcases like Morris. Simple.

3.) 26 Dec 2015 14:17:41
15/ 2/ 1 versus 20/ 4/ 5
Knight is a better shooter all around
And while Bradley is loved for his defense, knight is no slouch. Actually about the same level of not better. Bradley is 6'2, not a good shooter and can't distribute the ball.

I'd go with knight everyday of the week Celtics fan.

4.) 29 Dec 2015 00:42:15
While i agree that Knight is a better scorer and passer Bradley is far and away a better defender. The height difference is 1-2 inches at best. To say Knight is a better shooter is debateable and saying Bradley is not a good shooter is dead wrong Bradley has a better FG% and 3PT% than Knight. Avery-.447 and 3-.396 KNight-.427 and 3-344 Knight is asked to shoulder the scoring load Bradley is not.

While after i say this i don't have an issue at all saying Knight is the better overall player but by how much ona scale of 1-10 Knight is a 8 Bradley is a 7. In regards to the Trade i don't see Boston moving Bradley at all he's a loved teammate and has a great contract going forward. Its way too much to give up along with johnson and sullinger and the picks. Boston says no way.

Why would the Celtics want a huge, overrated, slow as molasses center. He doesn't fit anything they are trying to do offensively? Not a good fit.

As a Boston fan I'd be ecstatic if D. A. Could pull this off. Just no way I see Philly giving up at worst the 4th pick in the Draft.

Boston would never give up Brooklyn Nets 1st round pick for that package.

I would do this trade straight up if I were the Celtics. Maybe even throw in a 2nd rounder. But, a 1st round pick as well? Let alone 1 that will probably be top 5? Ainge would be insane to pull the trigger on this deal.
