This is primarily a financial deal, but the Bulls have approached the Wolves over Keven Martin, and seem eager to move Noah's $13.4 mil contract. Bulls are also $4.3 mil over the lux, and Jerry Reinsdorf hates to pay any lux taxes.

CHI GETS: Kevin Martin + Adrien Payne + $16 mil in savings
MIN GETS: Noah + McDermott (absorbed with Budinger TPE)

Why for CHI? I love what Noah has done in the past, but there is no way he can produce to match his $13.4 mil salary, even when he comes back from his shoulder injury. McDermott has been a bit of a disappointment, and is not a playoff veteran. CHI can use Martin as a spot up 3-point shooter (54% from three since Dec 1) and he won't have to create his own shot, which he struggles at these days,

Mostly, the deal is about taking Reinsdorf under the luxury tax

$6.7 mil payroll savings
$6.2 mil in lux taxes
$3.0? mil in getting lux share back
------------------------------------
$16 million dollars

Even if Martin opted in and produced nothing next year, the Bulls are still making money here. Martin would be free, and any production is gravy.

Why for MIN? McBuckets is a prospect who's the right age to grow with the core - Martin isn't that guy. The Wolves don't need Noah, but his passion sets a great example that these kids could use right now. If he wants a buy out, that's fine. In the end, Taylor agrees to pay an extra $3.5 million pro-rated dollars, and it saves Reinsdorf about $13 million dollars, and that $3.5 changes Martin to McDermott.

why would chicago do this? gibson=PF, Gasol=PF, Mirotich=PF, portis=PF. and barstow at Center? oké, Gasol can play center, but isn't his natural position.

Pokkand1 actually Freddy plays Taj at center more than Jo, Since Noah's been out they've won six of seven and freed up minutes for bobby portis who could be big time sooner rather than later.
