Why does everyone keep posting Irving to Detroit trades? They have the least amount to offer yet also always come away with the best value. Detroit isn't going to get Irving even in a 3 team trade because Detroit can be cut out of every trade proposed.

I agree that Detroit doesn't have the best set of assets to offer, but if they were willing to offer something like Drummond, Kennard, Johnson, Smith and a first for Irving, Shumpert, and filler they could probably get a deal done. I'm just not sure betting their entire future on Kyrie is worth it for them, but without a ton of luck, they're basically built to be a low end playoff team that's well over the cap for the foreseeable future.

I don't see LeBron wanting Drummond. When he had Shaq he struggled because shaq clogged the lane. Drummond will do the same. Plus big men are irrelevant these days unless they can hit the 3.

I think that was more about Shaq's more methodical post gsme, lack of post passing ability, and at that point lack of athleticism.
I do agree that old school back to the basket centers are going out the window, but big men don't necessarily need to be able to shoot ( it's better if they can, but they aren't unplayable if they can't) as long as they can play at a high level on defense, are athletic, and can be elite level offensive rebounders. Drummond's defense isn't there yet, but he has all the skills to become an excellent defender, he has elite level athleticism for his size, and he is a top 5 rebounder in the NBA. I don't think he's a huge upgrade over Thompson in the short term, but his upside is way higher.
