Knicks offseason if they get 1st overall pick and can lure Kyrie Irving and Khris Middleton later on

- draft Zion Williamson (1st pick)
- trade 51st pick, Lance Thomas (only $1M guaranteed for the season) and $1M for a highly-protected future pick [$7.5M of traded player exception is acquired]
- extend qualifying offer for Emmanuel Mudiay
- renounce all other FAs' bird rights

Cap holds, entering free agency period:
Zion Williamson - $8.12
Emmanuel Mudiay - $5.76
Frank Ntilikina - $4.86
Dennis Smith Jr. - $4.46
Kevin Knox - $4.38
Allonzo Trier - $3.55
Damyean Dotson - $1.62
Mitchell Robinson - $1.56
Joakim Noah (waived) - $6.41
open roster spots*3 - $2.69
--- $43.41
Irving - $32.7
Middleton - $32.7
--- 108.81 (salary cap for 2018-19 season is set to be $109M)

- sign Kyrie Irving to a 4-year, $139.5M maximum contract (including full trade-kicker and player option at the final year)
- sign Khris Middleton to a 4-year, $139.5M maximum contract
- re-sign Emmanuel Mudiay to a 3-year, $30M contract via bird rights
- sign Zion Williamson to a 4-year rookie contract (give the 20% premium as usual and his 1st year salary is $9.75M) via bird rights (NOTE: rookie contracts can be signed as early as one month after the draft, and the player cannot be traded for a month. So, a trade for Davis can be completed in late August)
- trade Zion Williamson, Frank Ntilikina, Kevin Knox, Allonzo Trier, DAL's 2021 1st round pick, own 2022 1st round pick, DAL's 2023 1st round pick and $4.5M cash for Anthony Davis and Jahlil Okafor
- sign Trevor Ariza to a 2-year, $10M contract via room exception [backup 3&D wing]
- use TPE (from Lance Thomas deal at the draft night), and trade 2020 1st round pick for Nemanja Bjelica [backup strecth-4]
- sign Tyson Chandler, Devin Harris and Jared Dudley to veterans' minimum contracts [adding some experience to the bench]

Irving - Mudiay - Harris
Dotson - Smith Jr.

Davis - Bjelica
Robinson - Okafor - Chandler

Any thoughts?

Middleton can resign with the Bucks for a 5 year max deal, (35-37 Mil. per year) plus Middleton has stated he would prefer to stay in Milwaukee. I don't see him going to NY or anywhere else.

Keep the cash and Trier, Pels keep Okafor. add DSJ and take Moore.

Doesnt extending Mudiay a QO create a cap hold of 3 times his current salary (AKA 3 x $4.3 mil = $13 mil)?

Also seems like the salaries aren't quite matching on the Williamson-Davis trade. Ny around $20 mil versus NO at $28.8. NY has cap space after the FA signings?

If MIL does a food job negotiating, Middleton should start around 27-28 in the first year, topping out around 36-37. In his final season. You can't pay him like he is a superstar because he isn't, and MIL will lose other important pieces they need. I would let Middleton go before losing Mirotic, Brogdon, Lopez, Bledsoe to a guy asking for more than the Market will bare.

@TorqueHardbar I haven't heard it, so I can't object. Anyway, they can still offer that contract to Butler if they persuade him to play in NY.

@Fredman I referenced Mudiay's QO from Basketball Insiders which is a reliable website on salaries. Also, a team can trade for player (s) whose total salary is 125% of their package. If it still doesn't match that amount in this case, they can omit Okafor and surely it'd be fine.

@ EU, I believe they would have a better chance of getting Butler, Than Middleton. Just my thoughts.

Sign Harris, he won't cost 38 the first year, or last, is more consistent shooter than Middleton. Bucks keep everyone they want. Middleton hasn't been consistent since late November.

You know he meant good. And if you didn’t you shouldn’t be on this site. Go get hooked on phonics.

However if a team offers a max, Milwaukee likely won’t match. They just won’t. So he can want to stay. But comes down to money or love of a city. My guess. Money. It’s always money.
