Rapsfan had the idea of Simmons going to Toronto

Raptors - Simmons and 1st via 76ers
Pacers - Birch Thomas and 1st via 76ers
Nets - AD
Lakers - FVV and Turner

Next trade (should work IF Beal leaves in FA)

Lakers - KCP(exp) and Brooks(exp)
Wizards - Russ(exp) and Adams(exp)
Grizz - Porzingis

- essentially Wizards traded the contracts of Bertans/Dinwidde for expiring ones in Russ/Adams. A big W if Beal leaves

Simmons/Trent/OG/Barnes/Siakam
- best defense/versatility in the league

FVV/KCP/Brooks/Lebron/Turner
- perfect fit team around Lebron to contend

Hali/Brogdon/Hield/Smith/Duren(trade back)
- add solid scoring prospect + 1st for Turner

Irving/Curry/KD/AD/Sharpe
- adds a better superstar & rim protector

Russ/Davis(draft)/Avdija/Kuzma/Adams
- saves a ton of money

Morant/Bane/Williams/JJJ/Porzingis
- adds rim protection and more reliable scorer over Brooks

Obvious defensive improvements aside, I'd be most worried about any mental toughness issues you might have in swapping out Simmons for FVV. What might that do in the locker room? The Raptors have other guys that could/ would step up but that's a big shift. Raptors fans support their players, but you've got the added pressure of an entire country watching you, so how would Simmons fare going from pressure cookers like Philly and Brooklyn to Toronto - still a large media market and a major sports town. Just some food for thought as minor as it might seem.

I like it from a value perspective for the Raptors. And I can see where other teams can all benefit the way you put this together. jdc's hesitations aren't minor at all. when i first proposed the idea i was concerned about the risk Simmons brings. if this were done I think the Raptors would like to send Flynn as part of the package somewhere just to cushion the salary difference. I don't think he has any future in Toronto and expect him to be a throw-in if toronto does make a trade this summer.
