Terrible trade for the Cavs. They end up with no defense and 5 players that need a lot of touches to be effective.

Cavs aren't going to trade over a quarter of their team and two starters this late. Also that team wouldn't even be good. I'd hate to have Melo as my 3rd option since he doesn't do much other than score so he wouldn't be all that effective unless he comes off the bench. Who would they play at sg after they trade away Smith and Shumpert? The teams defense would be horrible can't have a team full of scorers and ball dominant players. This late in the season that would be a recipe for disaster ruining the team's chemistry and possibly leading to an early exit from playoffs.

Don't think Twolves would even do that trade.

Thompson is the only starter because Liggins actually usually starts but I do understand your point. Honestly I believe a trade probably won't happen even though the Cavs would love to get Melo for the right price. This may only happen if Boston or Toronto makes another significant improvement to their team and forces Cavs to try and make something happen. As we see now with Cousins anything can happen.
