That seems about right. Rockets save $15M and pick up a decent backup big. This move alone would bring the Rockets down to $76M, giving them about $25M to spend. They may not even have to do anything else in this scenario to get a big name FA.

Yes Rockets want to shed salary, but Anderson is in no way a "salary dump". He has great upside, so to cough up him and a 1st round pick for scraps is unrealistic. Knicks would have to throw in a couple of additional first round picks or remove Rockets sending 2018 1st rd pick out of the deal.

Gobblyguber while I agree Anderson isn't a salary dump you have to take into account the circumstances. Moving max contracts is no easy feat so I think Rockets would have to grease the wheels a little bit if they were serious about getting something done. I also don't believe trading a late-round first really hurts a team as good as the Rockets. If you think of it from another perspective they are basically trading Anderson and 2018 highly protected first for CP3 or Millsap which isn't a bad trade at all. They would also be getting O'quinn who is a solid and cheap backup big.
